Stillness Speaks: A Haiku Quartet

Talking is Less Than We Might Think

David A. Reinstein, LCSW
The smile of a friend
Can be a deep silent hug,
Uncluttered and true.

Words oft' create sounds
That obfuscate what is real;
We know, but we speak.

Talking a bit less
Allowing for hearts to touch.
Stillness speaks volumes.

Silence can be love
And the caring acceptance
Humanity craves.

    Reminds of when I was feeling really down and someone gave me a much needed hug.

    How true that is.

    Each Haiku verse, on it's own, is quite a nice sentiment. The verses together, even moreso.
