Stocking Stuffer Ideas for Pets

Bill Smith
Many people have pets in the United States, and many people treat their pet as if it was a part of the family. If you are a pet owner, chances are you will be getting your pet a stocking this Christmas. Stocking stuffer ideas for pets are very wide and no matter what you can afford, there are some small and cheap items you can get for your pet this Christmas.

Treats are always a good idea for a cat or a dog stocking this year. Most animals love hearing the rattle of the treat bag and will come running to you for a bite. Whether you have a cat or a dog, you can buy animal treats for fewer than 3 dollars at your local store. Pick a flavor like fish or seafood that you know your pet will love or if you have a dog you can get those treat bones for fewer than 5 dollars. Pet treats are something your animal will surely love and enjoy and makes a great inexpensive stocking stuffer since you can get them just about anywhere that is a retail or grocery store.

If you have a cat, you can also buy them some catnip this year for a stocking stuffer. Catnip is something your cat will go crazy for and will love you for. Catnip can be found at your local pet store or grocery store for a couple dollars and it comes in a plastic baggy. You can add catnip to their favorite toy to give them that extra boost to play and get exercise.

If you have a dog, you can get them some chewy toys, which are usually under five dollars at any pet or retail store. Chewy toys will be a nice addition to the sock or old toy you have laying around that your dog just does not seem as interested in these days. Chewy toys are often cheap and will not last that long, but if you really feel the need you can buy more durable chew toys for your dog it just might cost a little more. Pick some that make noise or that have strings on the end of them that you know they will like to chew. No matter how much you do or do not have to spend, a chew toy is cheap and very entertaining to your dog.

Dogs also love Beggin' Strips or other bacon like treats, which come in a bag at your local retail, grocery, and pet stores. These little bacon-tasting strips will have your dog begging you for more and it is a good treat to give them every once in a while. Bacon-tasting snacks are a little more expensive than regular dog treats, so it would be a nice thing to get your dog for a stocking stuffer since it might be something you can not afford every week. You can usually find a bag of the bacon treats for fewer than 10 dollars.

If you have a cat, you might have noticed they like string and like love playing with objects that roll around. I would suggest for a stocking stuffer this year that you get your cat a toy with a ball on the end of it or the balls that have the bell inside they can smack around the house. These ball toys with the bell in them or with string on the end are pretty cheap, you can even get them at the local Dollar General for about two or three dollars. Cats love to chase these balls around the house and the noise, although maybe annoying to you, is really fun and entertaining for them. These are great little stocking stuffer ideas that are cheap, usually come in a bag of 2 or 3 and will keep your cat happy and entertained this Christmas season.

A stick with a feather on it is also a great gift for your cat this Christmas season, and makes a great stocking stuffer. The stick with a feather is always a favorite of your feline companion and costs less than four dollars. You can get the stick with a feather on it at pet stores and your local retail stores in the pet section. This little feather stick will keep your cat entertained for hours, although you do have to swing it around to get them to play with it at first. If you get tired of playing with the stick feather, put it near the cats favorite spot to hang out and watch them play with it for hours.

A great stocking stuffer for a dog or cat this Christmas season is a collar. If you do not have a collar for your pet, it would be a great idea for a stocking stuffer for them this year because it is actually useful. Get them a colored collar at any local pet store or retail store in the pet section and maybe spice it up with a bell or charm to go on it. You can also get a special tag for the collar with the pets name on it and emergency contact information on the back just in case they get lost or go wondering the neighborhood. You can get collars in many different colors and designs and this will surely make your pet be a fashionable one this Christmas season. You can add so many charms to the end of the collar, such as the name of your pet or something special about them so it really can make a great stocking stuffer idea for any pet owner. You can get collars and add-on charms to them for fewer than 15 dollars.

The last great idea for a stocking stuffer for your pet this Christmas season would have to be a brush. Sure, you might have a normal cheap little brush you use, but you can also spend a little more on them and get your pet a really good brush. You can buy them a good brush for fewer than 20 dollars at most retail stores and pet stores, and your pet will be very happy you did. They have brushes for cats and dogs and everything in between, and this not only will make your pet look better but it will help with pet hair and shedding as well. Of all the stocking stuffer ideas you could get your pet, a brush is one of the most useful idea. Cats especially go through the shedding process and it can be a hassle picking up cat fur from everything, so spend a little more on the brush and make sure it is specifically for getting out dead undercoat. Cutting down on the fur flying around your home will not only make you feel better, but getting the dead hair off of your pet will make them feel better too.
