Stocking Stuffer Ideas for the Science Fiction Fan

I am an avid science fiction fan, as are many in my family and circle of friends. I often give and receive science fiction themed gifts for Christmas and other occasions, so I have many gift ideas for other lovers of the genre. This article will show you some great stocking stuffer ideas for the science fiction fan in your life.

Books

The obvious choice for a stocking stuffer for the science fiction fan would be science fiction books. But you can't just go and grab any random book off the shelf and think they'll like it just because it's science fiction. No, science fiction fans are picky. There are many sub categories to choose from. Space opera, hard science fiction, futuristic romance, and many others.

If you know the person well, you probably have an idea what they like to read. If not, you can get them an anthology with short stories, as there probably will be something in it they will enjoy. Newly published books are a good stocking stuffer idea as well, as it's more likely they haven't read it yet.

You should try to choose stocking stuffer books that are smaller, to fit better in the stocking. A large hardcover probably won't fit, but a paperback most likely will.

Subscriptions

Subscriptions to magazines like Asimov's Science Fiction and Fact and Analog make a good stocking stuffer. You can roll up one issue of the magazine with a note inside letting them know you ordered a subscription for the magazine.

Toys

You can give adults toys as stocking stuffers too. Lego's, action figures and other toys with their favorite science fiction movie characters. There are all kinds of science fiction toys to choose from, ranging from Star Wars to Spider Man. You should be able to find little toys to hide in the stocking of any science fiction fan.

Bookmarks

What better stocking stuffer can you think of for your science fiction fan? You can easily find bookmarks with the usual Star Wars or Harry Potter. You can also make your own. Cut up old science fiction book covers, and convert into bookmarks. Punch a hole in the top and tie on a string, and laminate if you want.

DVDS

You can often find a variety of cheap DVDs these days in stores like Rite Aide or Wal Mart. A descent portion of those are science fiction. Find a couple of old classics, even the really tacky bad ones, like Soylent Green or Planet of the Apes, and pop those in your science fiction fan's stocking. A real science fiction fan will appreciate your efforts.
