Stocking Stuffers for Adults

Ben M
Christmas stockings are a long-time tradition, and they're something that most people look forward to. This is especially true for adults. However, filling a stocking with adult gifts can be a challenge and most definitely expensive. There are a few things you need to keep in mind when buying stuffers for a stocking. As opposed to buying for children, most adult stuffers can't be found in just one location. It requires a little bit of extra shopping time and energy. Also, expensive items don't necessarily constitute quality. The uniqueness of a gift, most of the time, overcomes price and can be more meaningful. Buy gifts that can be used, not just ones that are fun. With that said, here are a few stocking stuffer ideas you can buy for any adult:

Lottery ticket.
Lottery tickets are a great and easy gift to stuff a stocking with. Who doesn't like having a chance to win thousands of dollars from one scratch off ticket? Personally, I feel excited every time I purchase a ticket and scratch off the results. You could stuff the stocking with several different one or two dollar tickets, giving your friend or loved one the chance for the big money!

Mini liquor bottles.
This is a great idea because the bottles are small enough to fit inside the stocking and can be hidden well. The holidays are a season full of great food and tasty drinks, and by giving your loved one mini liquor bottles you can keep all of the fun going! You could also attach different drink recipes to the bottles, including your famous eggnog recipe.

Magazine subscriptions.
This is the gift that keeps on giving throughout the year. If a friend or loved one you know enjoys reading a particular magazine, provide them with a one year subscription to their favorite magazine. This gift is inexpensive and very easy to acquire. You could even do some searching online to order the subscription.

Starbucks Gift Card.
Any adult will tell you that they live and die by the Starbucks coffee every morning. A cute, unique idea for a stocking stuffer is to provide a $10-$15 gift card to Starbucks. Believe me, it will get used.

Homemade Cookies.
So you've got a little room left in the stocking, but the expense is starting to add up. One simple idea is to bake some homemade cookies and put them in a holiday themed tin box. This requires very little money and is a great way to add a personal touch to the stocking. Instead of buying store brand cookies, look up a great recipe and make them from scratch. Who knows, maybe you'll have a few left over for yourself!

Hammer.
For any handy adult guy, buying them a new hammer or other tool is a creative idea. Tie a nice holiday themed ribbon around the hammer and put it in the bottom of the stocking so it doesn't crush the other more fragile gifts. Again, this gift is very useful and practical.

Gift Certificate-Movie Rental Store
Everyone likes renting movies at the local Blockbuster or Hollywood Video stores. For only a few dollars, give your loved one a gift certificate for one free movie rental. You could also provide a bag of popcorn so they could make it an eventful movie night.

Recipe for a family dish.
This is another gift that requires no money and can be very useful. Find a delicious holiday dish or dessert that your family is famous for and write it down on nice stationary. This can also include recipes for drinks like eggnog.

Chapstick.
This is one that you're probably not expecting but it's just another small item that can be stuffed into the stocking. The holiday season is normally blistering cold, and it doesn't help that we have to go in and out of stores all day when we're shopping for presents. Chapstick is a very useful gift that reminds us of the cold weather and to keep our lips from drying
