Stocking Stuffers for Someone with the Holiday Blues

Someone in Your Life Who is Stressed or Depressed? Here Are Some Stocking Stuffer Ideas for Them This Christmas

Do you want to give a Christmas stocking that will offer someone some well-deserved R & R? Everyone deserves to relax and unwind at the end of a hard day, but some people just don't know how to release stress. Giving them some items to pamper and treat themselves could encourage them to treat themselves better and help them release stress.

The holidays themselves can be stressful for many people. Most people admit that they feel some type of "holiday blues." Holiday blues can be brought on by overspending, overeating, overindulging, worrying about family during the holidays and grief. Giving a Christmas stocking that encourages someone to relax is a lovely gift that so many people will appreciate and enjoy, long after the holidays are over.

Candles. Candles are a great stocking stuffer for someone who is overwhelmed. Especially scented candles. Vanilla, orange and lavender are all relaxing, comforting and positive scents that are great for someone who is feeling a little blue. Try to get candles that have real essential oils and not synthetic scents in them, it does make a difference.

Meditation CD. Meditation has many health benefits and one of them is that it reduces stress. There are many different types of meditation, from silent meditation to guided meditation and people who meditate to music such as Gregorian chants. A guided meditation CD is probably one of the best things to start someone off with, so they can learn how to meditate with the CD. You can find this type of CD in most large bookstores and online.

Bath Salts. A bath can be very relaxing and bath salts help the muscles relax, releasing tension in the body. You can also find bath salts with scents. Lavender is a scent that helps people relax and prepare to go to sleep. Orange is a happy, positive and slightly energizing scent. There are many different scents to select from, look for something soothing.

Massage Gift Certificate. This is a great gift idea. Touch is very powerful and healing. If you can't afford to give someone a gift certificate for a massage, simply offer to give them one yourself. A massage will help them to relax the tension and the stress in their bodies. Often our emotions and mental stress wind up getting stuck in our muscles, creating muscular tension.

Yoga Gift Certificate or DVD. Moving the body is very important when feeling under stress. If you can give someone a gift certificate for a yoga class, or a DVD that they can play at home to learn yoga, this is something that will help them a great deal. There are many different types of yoga DVDs, look for something with relaxation or restoration in the title, perhaps even a beginners DVD for your loved one.
