Stocking Stuffers for Toddlers

Christie Silvers
The holiday season is a fantastic time of year when you have a toddler in the house. Toddlers are seeing the sights and hearing the sounds for the first time and they are amazed. I absolutely love having a toddler in the house for Christmas. So what will you put in your toddler's stocking this Christmas? Here are a few ideas of stocking stuffers for toddlers for you to consider when doing your holiday shopping.

Most toddlers love taking a bath. At least my three girls did and do enjoy their baths.Bath toys are a wonderful idea for stocking stuffers for toddlers. You can simply go to your local dollar store and pick up several little yellow duckies and other bath toys for only a few dollars or you can go out and buy a huge bucket full of bath toys for $10 and up. My toddler enjoys her yellow duckies as much as any other bath toy she has. I'm going to get her some of the foam letters and numbers for this Christmas. These are perfect once your toddler starts showing an interest in letters and numbers. As well as showing interest in colors since these foam bath toys come in a variety of colors.

Speaking of things for the bath, you could go for bath tub finger paints as a stocking stuffer for toddlers. Kids love to paint all over anything that they can get their little hands on. So why not just let them paint all over the tub while taking their bath? By letting them paint and draw in the tub you can simply clean them and the tub up at the same time during bathtime. This makes for good clean fun for your fun-loving toddler. There are many different types of bathtub finger paints as well as tub crayons. It's just a matter of you picking which one you like the best. These range from around $5 and up depending on what type you purchase and they fit well into a stocking.

Another great stocking stuffer for toddlers, that is bath related. are the Bathtub Tints from Crayola. These always amaze my children. They are little colored tablets that will fizz and dissolve in the bath water while changing the bath water different colors. This gift idea fits perfectly into a Christmas stocking and will last for up to 30 baths. These could also help you with a toddler who may be a little leary of taking baths.

Books are great stocking stuffers for any age group but definitely for toddlers. At this age they are beginning to understand words and language better and they love to hear you read stories to them. My toddler will just lay in my arms and stare right at me while I'm singing or reading to her, just contemplating the words and pronunciations coming from my mouth. This is the perfect age to encourage a love of the written word. That's where all of the wonderful books available come in handy. Choose books with big, bright pictures and preferrably a nice rhythm when you read it. There are books for the younger toddlers that have different textures and sounds for them to explore. I know one favorite that everyone seems to rave about is "Goodnight Moon". My girls love "A to Z Aliens". Any book you choose is sure to be loved.

Another idea for stocking stuffers for toddlers is hand puppets. Hand puppets are so intriguing to a toddler. They are amazed that they can control this little person or animal just by putting their hand in it and moving it around. Hand puppets make my toddler giggle and keep her playing for a long time. I just love to sit back and watch her entertain herself with her little friend. You can find hand puppets at any store that has a toys department. They are usually pretty cheap.

Other things that make good stocking stuffers for toddlers are things like coloring books and crayons and building blocks. Bottles of bubbles are fun also. They help teach your toddler how to blow and it's fun to watch. Anything that will keep you toddler active and that will help spark an interest and/or their imagination is a fantastic gift idea for any occassion.

Happy Holidays!
