Stocking Stuffing Ideas for the Writer in Your LIfe

Writer's Need Christmas Stockings Too!

Laurie Childree
Christmas morning is when the kids finally get to open all those brightly wrapped gifts under the tree. Everyone excitedly opens the gifts and you finally get to dive into the stockings and find out what all the tiny things in them are. There are stocking stuffers that you can make or those you buy for all age ranges. What do you fill a writers' Christmas stocking with? There are some things that every writer needs and wants which fit nicely into a stocking.

Writing Supplies

Writers even those that use a word processor still need pens, pencils, erasers and notebooks. All of these fit easily into stockings so they can make notes about what they're doing. A small day planner allows writers to keep up with the deadlines they have and never be late for appointments that aren't writing related. Splash drives, blank CD's and DVD's can assist them in their work as well.

Calendars/Rolodex

A small desk calendar with pages that flip up will help writers to keep track of when their next deadline is. Those tiny calenders with inspirational messages on them can keep writers focused making them a great stocking stuffer for writers. A Rolodex can help to keep contacts organized and within easy reach if things arise during the work day that have to be taken care of immediately.

Gift Certificates

Writers are in constant need to equipment but that doesn't mean they don't like non-work related things. You can give them a gift certificate to the book store, a computer store or even the local shopping mall. There will be times when a writer has unusual needs come up that they might not have planned for.

Voice Recognition

You can purchase a voice recognition program complete with a headset to help the writer in your life become more productive. The package should easily fit into most stockings. A small hand held tape recorded that is voice activated along with a few blank tapes can help the writer in your life increase productivity. When there isn't enough time to write those ideas down they can simply say them and play them back at their convenience.

Finding stocking stuffer ideas for writers isn't difficult. You just have to think about what the writer in your life needs and what they like. Sometimes the things you put in their Christmas stocking can be things they enjoy that have nothing to do with writing. No matter what you finally decide on the decision should be based on how well you know them.
