The stories are sad, the outcomes surprising. The episodes are only thirty minutes in length. Each is fascinating. The very first episode, featured the story of Nineteen year old Ali Kemp. Ali comes home for the summer, after her first year away at college. She gets a job at the local pool in Leawood Kansas, where she falls victim to a vicious attack.
What makes the story even sadder is that Ali's dad, Roger Kemp, is the one to find her battered body, in the pools pump room. To listen to him re-count the story, just breaks your heart. Determined to find the monster that killed his princess, Roger works closely with the police - and ultimately comes up with an idea that helps police find Ali's killer.
A billboard. It is apparent that Roger put all of his anger to work toward finding his daughter's killer, and soon they had him, Benjamin Appleby. It took almost two years for him to be caught, but Roger was determined to keep Ali's case in the spotlight and it finally pays off. Watching Benjamin describe the day he killed Ali, is chilling. It is obvious to viewers, he is a very sick person. He is so callous, as he describes how he killed Ali, and why, he says he doesn't know why he did it - he just reacted when she rejected him.
Appleby was convicted of Capital Murder and attempted rape in late 2006. He was sentenced to Life in Prison without the possibility of parole for at least fifty years - that will make him around eighty years of age - if he lives that long. Ali's father found the justice he so desperately sought, for the monster who killed his princess. It does not bring his daughter back, but it assures this creep can't do harm to someone else's child.
The show is not unique in content or concept - only in format. It is a crime story show. The details of the crimes can be gruesome - and the imagery as well. It is much like Cold Case Files but a little less of the boring monologue- which is replaced by an interesting narrative by the victim. If you enjoy crime stories, you will like this show. It airs Monday Nights at 10/9 Central on Discovery ID.

Post a CommentI'm not sure how your article got by me! I was going through all my e-mail and here it is! I've never watched this show, but it's something that we naturally hate to face, and probably need to. You did a good job in explaining the sensitive subject matter. Hope you are enjoying our crazy warm weather! Take care! :)
Nicely done
Ouch!
Well done.
good work, but I probably wouldn't want to watch it myself!
Well done, thank you!
I agree Malina. I think that's why these shows attract my attention too. :)
It's painful listening, watching and even sometimes feelingthe pain of some of the family of victims of crimes. with knowledge and watching. And then sometimes understanding the fact that there are sick people out there who are waiting to prey on those unaware. While some might think it morbid to watch these and the popularity of some, I think it is something we all need to be aware of. The fact that there are situations we sometimes place ourselves in that might be avoided with a little awareness.
