If you live in or near the East Moriches area of Long Island, New York and you are looking for a great pediatrician, Dr. Kelly and Dr.Mangiamelli are two of the best we have been to. They are located right in East Moriches on Montauk Highway. They are affiliated with Stony Brook Hospital Pediatrics.

When my son was first born we lived in a different neighborhood and a different pediatrician was recommended by our OBGYN. We tried them out and at first we liked them but then I started noticing some problems. Whenever we would bring my son in for a visit, we would see a different doctor every time. What made matters even worse was when they started assigning different PA's (Physician Assistant) every time and we no longer saw the doctors. I think the doctors only see the new patients. I have nothing against the PA's but they were never consistent and we would have to go through my son's history every time we took him in for an appointment. I started realizing that what I was looking for was more of a small town doctor who knew his/her patients when they came for an appointment.

When we moved to our new house in East Moriches I decided this would be a good time to switch pediatricians. My husband spoke to one of his closest friends who happened to live out by our new house and he recommended we see Dr. Kelly and Dr. Mangiamelli from the Stony Brook Pediatrics Center. It turns out that their office was only 5 minutes from our new house. I called their appointment line at (631) 444-KIDS. You need to call this number to make an appointment. You can't call their office to make the appointment. Their office number is (631) 878-8050. You can call them if you need to ask the doctor a question or need to refill a prescription.

My husband came with me for our son's first appointment with Dr. Mangiamelli. As soon as we drive into the place I was happy to see that there was a parking lot for patients. I don't like having to find parking on Montauk Highway. Once we parked we walked in and here again I was happy to see how clean the office was. There were plenty of chairs , a television for my son to watch, books to read, and toys to play with while we waited. Actually we didn't need to wait long at all. We signed in and within 5 minutes they called our name. We went into the examining room and met the nurse first. She took down my son's medical history, spoke to us for a while, took his weight, length, etc... Then she left and the doctor came in. When she came in she had a book for my son. This was a great ice breaker to start her exam. She was so gentle with my son. He let her do her exam and didn't cry once. She has a way with children. I was extremely happy to see that. Not everyone has a way with kids.

After the exam was over, she talked to us right in the room, we didn't have to go down and wait in her office. She explained what she found which was that my son was in great health and she also explained what we should be doing with him in the upcoming months. I felt to confident that we finally found the right doctor.

Each time I have been back, I have had great experiences whether it was with Dr. Mangiamelli or Dr. Kelly. They are both wonderful doctors. Whenever I needed to refill a prescription but was out of refills, all I have to do is call the office line and the receptionist leaves a message for the doctor. Within one hour my prescription is ready at my local CVS. What great service!

One of the best things about this office is that I have never had to wait for more than 5 minutes for my son to be seen. My son has gotten his flu shots, all of regular shots, forms filled out for school, and regular check ups as well.

They accept most insurance plans. I have Empire Government so I know they definitely accept that insurance. You don't even have to pay your co-payment at the time of the visit, they will mail you a statement.

I can't say enough good things about the medical pediatrics practice. If you are unhappy with your current pediatrician and live near the area, you should definitely give them a call at (631) 444-KIDS.
