Stop Grieving the Holy Spirit Now

Kevin Smith
Something we commonly see in the Christian church are the numerous believers that do the principles like praying, confessing the word of God, and standing on His word, but not getting the results that His word promises us we can have. I realize that overtime this has discouraged many people from attending church. People need living examples of God's power actually working.

Churchgoers who do what they are supposed to do spiritually but don't see any results physically, have a form of godliness but lack the power. We have established that in order to have the power one must have the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is our power as believers in God. If you have grieved were quenched the Holy Spirit, you are living without His power. Otherwise stated, going on or living without the Holy Spirit is to go on without the power of God.

Christian's who try to execute the Christian life without the power of the Holy Spirit with them, causes them to have frustration. Frustration causes a believer to backslide or straddle the fence, and in turn, have the form of godliness without the power to back it up. The things that cause Christians to not be able to tap into the power of the Holy Spirit are obvious, but a person living in the world can easily forget.

Unforgiveness and bitterness grieves the Holy Spirit. One of the key principles of Christian living is to forgive everyone for any and everything they've done wrong. Before someone is born, God knows what bad choices that person is going to make in their life, yet He delivered Jesus for everyone's sins. Not just a few of us, but all of us. Therefore, if God can forgive you for all of the sins you commit throughout your lifetime, you can forgive a person for one thing or even a few things that they did wrong. Some other things that will stop the Holy Spirit's power from working in your life are selfishness, hate, and malice.

This next statement may cause some controversy, but tragic death doesn't happen without the Holy Spirit trying to reveal things to a person. The truth is, the more we obey the Holy Spirit, or what some call a gut feeling, or that first instinct, the clearer His voice will be to us. In order for a Christian to be able to have power, they have to make sure that they're not holding things inside or doing things that will cause the Holy Spirit to not be able to operate through them. To be successful a Christian must get in a mind state of total forgiveness, which means that there's nothing a person can do to you that will make you hate them.
