Kirby Rooks
According to the Kaiser Family Foundation kids between the ages of 8 and 18 spend an average of 7 ½ hours a day online using a smartphone, computer, television or other electronic devise. That is beyond anyone's reasonable expectation.

The best way to break the online habit is to introduce your child to a hobby. Sounds a little old-fashion, but don't let that stop you as there are some really cool hobbies for young people to get involved with and have fun or even become so involved they can make a career out of their hobby. Here are some suggestions to hobbies to pursue, but it's just a starting point:

Drawing- A great hobby for a girl or a boy is drawing. Girls might like to draw fashion designs, while boys usually like to draw cartoons or animated characters. There are always great drawing classes in every town in America.

Collecting- Another great hobby is collecting. Girls may want to collect cookbooks or dresses from different decades. Boys on the other hand have always been drawn to sports cards, stamps or coins. But collecting is a hobby that has an endless array of possibilities.

Hiking & Camping- Being outdoors has long been a favorite of boys. As they get older there is a desire to explore the wild areas in local mountains or forests nearby. It is fun and exciting to take photos of wildlife and beautiful scenery. It's a great time and is very addictive to those that get involved with local hiking groups.

Outdoor Photography- A favorite of both boys and girls outdoor photography is fun and very much rewarding for those that like to record things around their area. Also lots of people enjoy this hobby so pictures can be shared with others with the same interest.

Remote Control Airplanes- This is a cool way for girls and boys to explore their feelings about flying. They can build their own plane and learn about the aerodynamics involved in flying. By the time they get old enough to fly they are already well versed in the basics of flying.

There are five great ideas for hobbies your kids can get involved in that will help them to develop as a man or woman and help eliminate the online world as their only form of entertainment.
