Stop Procrastinating; Start Creating

Thierry Snipes
Back in 2002, pro-blogger Darren Rowse started blogging. When he first started putting contextual ads on his blog, he was making less than $10 a month. Now he makes more than $8,000 a month! This came from hard work. I mean, the man was raising a child, paying his bills on time, obviously pleasing his wife (because she's still with him), and starting a large Web site that would lead to owning dozens of blogs that make him money.

Now what amazes me about the average individual with a dream is they never seem to have any time to water their seeds. They're sure to never give their dreams any sunlight, because their mind-frame is constantly dark and negative.

Take my close friend Mikael. He's a very smart guy, gets straight A's in college, and is currently running his own small business out of Sylvania, Ohio. You'd think this young 23 year old man has everything together. Actually, his girlfriend does all the paperwork for his business... and she hates doing it, so it's screwed up. This guy hates the small business as well, says he never has time to invest in the paperwork or his lifelong dream of professional sports writing. Well the question I ask is: if he's not working on his current business or trying to build his dream career, what the hell is he doing? He's just complaining, and being negative.

Suggestions Given to Mikael

  1. There are so many sports magazines that could use your knowledge. Try it and see what happens.
  2. There is a Web site called Associated Content, I'm sure you could gain a readership from it, and possibly have some editors knocking at your door.
  3. You love reading action novels. Maybe you could take your love of sports writing, and form a story around it. The process could be fun, and you'd have a blast.

To all these suggestions I only received a half-interested grunt.

I'm not a stick-in-the-mud by any standards. I love to get plastered off of wine, and claim that I'm just drinking it to relax. I go to work and wish I could pull the fire alarm and cause us all to stop working for a moment- of course, I probably wouldn't do that. I just think individuals complain too damn much.

There are people who spend way more than eight hours sleeping. Then there are people who think action equals accomplishment, and that isn't always the case. I'm sure Darren Rowse wasn't just putting random blog sites up without researching the niche he was going into. It takes knowledge and action.

I love to learn new things, but more than anything, I love to use every second of my day to grow. What the hell am I on this earth for if I'm not growing or helping the advancement of my human race, my family? We're superior, people! We're a special breed, and we need kings, queens, presidents, artists, business owners, and inventors. We need these people because they help guide our cultures, and these people do wonders in making America a wonderful country.

So, in conclusion, I'd like to suggest more people think like Darren Rowse and a lot less like my friend Mikael, maybe you'll give me more than a disinterested grunt in response to this editorial rant. Until the next time I post, much love, peace, and medicated hair grease.
