Stop Your Puppy from Biting You, Your Belongings

It's not uncommon to see puppies biting or nipping people. It rarely causes any harm at all. But you as a master of the puppy, should make sure that your puppy doesn't get into the habit of doing this regularly, unless you love visiting your family doctor often. So how does one train a puppy to stop biting ?

Most dog trainers advice that its best to start training your puppy when its about 6-7 weeks old. That's because most puppies grow up to become dogs that disobey their masters due to a lack of discipline during childhood. So before things get out of your hand, make sure to read this article and put things to practice.

Every time your puppy bites you, make it a point to yell as if you are hurt and let your puppy know about it. You can also stare at your puppy and act like you are very angry and will hit him if he continues to behave like that. However, don't actually hit your puppy since your puppy might be in the teething period and might feel like biting anything and everything that he comes across.

If you see your puppy biting something, try to move that object away from him and give it a toy that's chewable. After constant efforts you will see that your puppy will be in love with that toy and will not bite anything else in your house. A rubber ball is a good example of something that your puppy would like to chew.

If your puppy continues to bite you, shout at it and do not encourage it at such a situation since some puppies can be stubborn. You might even have to go to the extent of using a stick to threaten it. Below mentioned are dogs that are difficult to train and stubborn in nature.

1. Afghan Hound
2. Airedale Terrier
3. Alaskan Husky
4. American Pit Bull
5. Bloodhound
6. Borzoi
7. Bull Terrier
8. Chinese Shar-Pei
9. Doberman
10. German Shepard
11. Great Dane
12. Irish Wolfhound
13. Siberian Husky

and many others........

If your puppy shows improvement in his behavior and bites softly, give it a lot of praise and appreciation. Allow it to socialize with other dogs and people, so that it doesn't get afraid of strangers. You also need to understand that your dog might bark or even bite people sometimes if he finds something suspicious. In such a case, don't scold your dog, simply take it away from the person and try to calm him. He might just be giving you his opinion about the person!
