Stop & Shop Pineapple Preserves

Consumer Product Review

Thomas J McCabe

Several months ago, my wonderful Father gave me a jar of Stop & Shop Pineapple Preserves. It wasn't until a few days ago that I opened the container and I must say, I absolutely love the flavor and texture of these preserves.

This Stop & Shop store brand product seems like a great item to review. Presented here, as a service to the consumer at large, is one food writer's product review of Stop & Shop Pineapple Preserves.

Size
The net weight of the container of Stop & Shop brand Pineapple Preserves being reviewed here is 12 ounces. According to the product's nutrition facts label, the container holds 17 one tablespoon servings. In physical size, the container measures roughly 4.5" x 2".

Price
The regular retail price charged for one 12 ounce jar of Stop & Shop Pineapple Preserves at Hartford, Connecticut area Stop & Shop supermarkets is approximately $1.99.

This price seems very reasonable to me. The same sized containers of name brand fruit preserves are usually priced significantly higher.

Texture / Consistency
As soon as I opened the container of Stop & Shop Pineapple Preserves, the appealing texture of the product stood out to me. This variety of fruit preserves is loaded with chunks and pieces of real pineapple.

This is the first brand of pineapple preserves I have ever eaten. Normally, when I eat fruit preserves, the flavors that I eat include strawberry, raspberry and grape, which feature a fair amount of real fruit pieces, but not nearly as much fruit as this variety of preserves.

As I spread the first spoonful of these preserves onto a piece of bread already spread with peanut butter, I was amazed by the thick and fruity consistency of the preserves. While I ate the inaugural peanut butter sandwich made with these preserves, I felt like I was eating a sandwich made with pieces of real fruit instead of preserves. The overall mouth feel offered by Stop & Shop Pineapple Preserves is very pleasing.

Nutritional Facts
Stop & Shop Pineapple Preserves contain 50 calories per one tablespoon serving. This delectable product also contains 0 grams total fat,10 mg of sodium, 13 grams total carbohydrates, 10 grams of sugars and 0 grams of protein, per one tablespoon serving.

Taste / Flavor
When it comes to flavor, Stop & Shop Pineapple Preserves taste better than any other jam, jelly or fruit preserves that I can recall eating.

Having waited almost a year to open this container of preserves, I definitely think it was worth the wait. If you are a fan of fresh pineapple and / or pineapple flavored food items, there's a good chance that you would enjoy eating this variety of fruit preserves. When I eat this product, it seems more like I'm eating fresh fruit than preserves.

Although these preserves are nice and appropriately sweet, they are not overly sweet. Because of the dynamic flavor offered by this variety of Stop & Shop fruit preserves, I think that they would also work well as an ingredient in various types of desserts.

On a flavor scale of one through ten, I would assign this product a rating of 9.75.

Packaging
Stop & Shop Pineapple Preserves are packaged in a sturdy, clear glass jar. The front label on the jar features an appealing illustration of whole and cut open pineapples set against a light green, orange and yellow background. The container opens easily and re-closes effectively and the rear label lists all pertinent ingredient and nutritional information.

Overall Rating
This variety of fruit preserves is a very high quality, well textured and delicious product. Available at Stop & Shop Supermarkets throughout the northeast United States, the reasonably priced Stop & Shop Pineapple Preserves are highly recommended by this food writer.
