Stop and Shop: Do You Really Want To?

High Prices, Unfriendly Staff, and Awful Store Layout Make You Think Twice

I am writing this to you as a consumer. I shop for products for my family on a weekly basis. Groceries are usually the main weekly shopping event in America's households. At my local Stop and Shop store, however, I have encountered more problems than I can possibly imagine. It seems as though every time I go in there it's a new hassle. In the beginning, I wasn't a fan of their over priced products, but I continued to shop there because it was closer to my house than anything else. I figured I would be paying just that much more in gas to get to anywhere else.

Then they started advertising "double coupon savings", which would have been wonderful, if maybe they had announced it to their staff before hand. Say something is on sale for $1.00 and you have a $.50 coupon. That item, with their double coupon policy should become free, right? Yes, it should, but often times it does not, because either the cashier doesn't know of the policy, or they flat out refuse to give you the extra savings because they hate seeing you walk out of the store with something for free. As if we as consumers at home invent all the coupons in the world?!

Another thing that is terrible in this store is their customer service. Often times if you go to the desk to get a raincheck or have a legitimate question, you will be stared at like you're doing something wrong. I cannot even tell you how many times I have avoided the customer service desk for that very reason. And managers? Yea right. They're the absolute worst. They've never heard the phrase "the customer is always right", I can almost guarantee that. They will argue with you over anything they possibly can just to get their way.

So between the high prices, the fact that you cannot find anything in the store, the rude employees, and day by day changes to their store's policies, I ask you...is it really worth your time and hassle to stop...and shop?

Maybe you should learn to read the fine print where it says DO NOT DOUBLE. Any coupon that can be doubled will automatically double when you scan your card in.
