The First Key to Protecting Your Teen is to Start Young
The best way to handle this is to train your child very early concerning experimenting with other children. This is probably the most key ingredient. child's sexual responses are awakened and a desire to experience sexual fulfillment is awakened through these experiences. Same sex experimentation between two children of the sex can lead to confusion as to same sex sexual attraction. All types of sexual experimentation can leave secretive feelings of desire mixed with shame.
The Second Key is to Train your Child or Teen to Display Self Control
This can be done through all types of settings. Extra curricular activities such as sports can help children to learn self control. Dance class, soccer, skateboarding, and other physical activities can help a child to train their body to work when they are tired or do not want to. This helps them to later resist doing something that they desire to do. Teach a child the joy or benefits of delayed gratification such as saving money.
The Third Key is Education
Place your children in as many teaching settings as possible. Expose your teens to training on abstinence and self control whether it is a conference type setting or DVDs. The more teaching and knowledge you can give your teen about the consequences of sexual experiences the better tools they will have to withstand temptation and peer pressure. There is evidence that your teen should be aware of on STDs and the probability of getting a disease for even one encounter with someone who has had one other encounter.
The Fourth Key is Protection from Sexual Exposure
Guard your teen from Internet exposure to sex. Sites that feature sexual activity can awaken sexual maturity that should not yet be active. Awakened behavior can lead to aggression in boys. This aggression must be addressed as it can lead to activity that could be considered criminal. Photos of nude teens being exchanged between cell phones, aggressive behavior toward girls such as pinching, slapping or fondling can lead to suspension and involvement with the police. Guard them by not allowing them Internet access unless they are in visible site. Put child guardian protection on the computer and guard them from pictures that can destroy and impact their innocence.
Your preteen or teen really can live a fruitful teen life and feel good about the choices that they make. Fill your child's life with confirmation of your love and support. Surround them with rules that will protect and guard and yet give age appropriate freedom. Bring your child and teen up to be a healthy, complete young adult.
