Bemidji, MN 56601
United States of America
While I cannot attest to their winter activities, we have spent several years camping there in the summer. Sitting on Lake Bemidji, it's a beautiful, natural campground. Easily accommodating larger RV's, it also has a dump station and an area to fill up your water tanks. Electric sites are also available, if you would like to "plug in." There are also several sites specifically for tents. Lake Bemidji State Park boasts over 135,000 annual visits! The prices are incredibly reasonable as well.
The park features miles of trails for hiking or riding your bike. The scenery is beautiful, and the trails have handicap access as well. They are self guiding, with information along the way. The wildlife features are astounding, and they even have a bald eagle as a resident! It's not uncommon to spot deer grazing as you wander around the campground, and even an occasional black bear siting!
There is a volleyball area down at the beach, as well as an indoor area to rent out for functions. Easy access showers are available for rinsing after a good swim. There is a boat dock, if you wish to bring your boat and do a little fishing, as well as a handicap accessible pier if you prefer to fish from the shore.
Inside the main building, you will find a visitor center and gift shop. Downstairs, there is an awesome display of local wildlife, as well as games for children to play. Directly behind that is an area for plays to be performed, or for religious services on Sunday.
The park is spectacular as far as cleanliness goes! The restrooms are spic and span, and there are constantly crews making rounds and keeping them tidy. The grounds are incredibly well maintained, and the office staff is helpful and friendly.
Just minutes to downtown Bemidji, Lake Bemidji State Park is an awesome experience for the whole family. There are several restaurants nearby, as well as golfing and small amusement parks. From what I understand, they are open year round to accommodate skiers in winter, with the heated lodge as a get-away.
Stop by and visit if you are in the area! You will certainly not be disappointed!
