Stop Writers Block Forever!

Create a Never Ending Supply of Articles!

Lisa Brown
Have you ever found yourself starting a flashing cursor with no idea what to write next? Are you repeating the mantra, 'must write an article...write an article'? Well stop that! Give yourself a break! The biggest creativity killer is pressure.

Writing should be enjoyable. I admit,I have had a few moments like this. Where I want to submit xx amount of articles by such and such a date. I do try to write an article everyday, but some days I am just not in the mood to write, or even stick to one idea, and follow through on it. Its not exactly writers block, it is more of a writers constipation. Those are usually the days where so much is going on, I can only think and speak in 2nd grade vocabulary. "I Like___ Because___." These are the days when the phone is ringing off the hook, the kids are freaking out, and the dog decides it is must be a full moon. I can barely hear my own thoughts, never mind write an article!

However, there is hope! If you happen to be at your PC and are having a writers block moment like this, write down what you are thinking about in 'notepad' (or a similar easy program). Whatever is on your mind. Is something distracting you? Are you unable to concentrate and write because something is bothering you? Save your 'note' in a file labeled "Rambling" or something like that. It could be "My two year old is having a tantrum...I can't think", "Internet Explorer acting weird", whatever it is, save it.

Remember, someone, somewhere has, and/or will experience the same problem. Even if it does not concern YOU tomorrow, like it did at the exact moment you wrote it, someone will benefit and learn from your experience. The article I wrote Early Preschool/ High Priced Daycare started in this way. A friend asked me why I had not put my 2 year old in preschool yet. While the conversation was fresh in my mind, I made a note of it. I came back to it later, when I had more time, energy, and a better grasp on adult vocabulary. It later became an article. At the time I was thinking, this concerns me, I am sure others would find it interesting. But then and there I was not thinking I was going to write an article. This particular article received a lot of page views. (And this was written before I figured out the whole 'keyword' thing!)

Writing yourself notes in a notebook is an excellent way to remember your ideas when you are not able to write on the computer. Remember life before the computer? Carry a small notebook with you. Leave a notebook in the car. Keep a notebook in every room of the house! Imagine all the thoughts and ideas that run through your head in the course of a day. Now imagine if you expanded on these ideas into articles later. You would have an abundance of article ideas to write about! Not just article ideas, but each note could be expanded into many articles! You get the idea!

Now when you do have the time to sit and write your article, or story, don't sit there and stare at your original sentence trying to 'write an article'. Forget that! Close your eyes and think back to that moment. How where you feeling? How did you solve the problem? What was the outcome? Don't get fancy here. Write as if you are speaking. This is just brainstorming. This is the 'birth' of content! Give it life, and help it grow! It's all yours. Happy Brainstorming!
