The website does a great job of exposing all the details of strikes, along with the flaws of the Pennsylvania school system. Based on the information provided by StopTeacherStrikes.org, there is a lack of dialogue in the education system. The websites tactics clearly point this out. They paint the teachers as money hungry, greedy leeches who never stop begging.
I'm not sure if it's a good idea to list the salary of teachers in this manner. The information is presented in a way that demeans teachers. The website doesn't really show any respect for the teaching profession. The future of our children is greatly affected by our teachers, and they should be compensated. The wages of the Pennsylvania teachers may be higher than the averages, but when an individual considers the amount of time, effort, and education that these teachers have, I am not sure they are compensated enough.
In defense to the grass-roots organization, the United States spends more money on education then any other country in the world, yet we are not ranked No. 1. The American education system is not efficient. Taxpayers are not getting the bang for the buck in terms of their money that goes towards funding schools. Question is whether or not the money is wasted on the salary of teachers, or other areas.
Teachers are fair game. This is the United States of America. If teachers are going to complain about how much money they make, then taxpaying voters have the right to know how much money they make. Teachers are public employees, so perhaps issues like their salary, should be exposed. The salaries of senators and other public officials are exposed to the public.
Websites like this will not advert striking. It will only divide parents and teachers more; which is not good for students. The website has a malicious tone to it. It almost uses the exposing of the salaries as a scare tactic. It is understandable that parents and taxpayers want the best education for children; however, ganging up against school teachers is not the answer. It is not right.
Most children spend thirteen years of their lives in the public school system. Teachers, politicians, and parents need to come together, and really make decisions that benefit their children, along with all parties involved. Children should be properly educated and shouldn't miss unnecessary days. Teachers should also get their just-do. Teachers inspire creativity and ambition. They should never be neglected. Teaching is a profession that is constantly changing as well; most teachers are highly educated.
