Store Review - Hobby Lobby

Lindsey Russell
Hobby Lobby, which started out as a craft and home décor store based in the Southwest (Texas and Oklahoma) is now in states as far away as Michigan. If you haven't shopped Hobby Lobby yet, you are in for a treat. While the store primarily competes with stores such as Michaels and JoAnn Fabrics, Hobby Lobby is special. While stores such as JoAnn Fabrics and Michaels offer home décor items as well, Hobby Lobby's home décor selection is much larger and unique.

You don't need to be crafty or even have a hobby to enjoy Hobby Lobby. The selection of home décor item not only accommodates just about every taste and style, it fits just about any budget as well. Their selection of furniture, picture frames, Christmas decorations, glassware, decorative boxes, and faux plants is truly a sight to see, if you aren't already addicted to the store. Most of the items come in deep, rich colors that highlight any décor.

Of course, Hobby Lobby has an incredible selection of hobby supplies as well. They offer sewing supplies, everything for scrapbooking, paints, models, and everything for do-it yourself framing. If you are looking for a special item to complete your project, Hobby Lobby is the store for you. In addition, Hobby Lobby many supplies for wedding crafts, which can be used to add a personal touch to your big day.

For those specializing in model aircraft, Hobby Lobby has a lot to offer. There is a whole aisle dedicated to just about every model imaginable in every imaginable size and price range. If you need any extra supplies, they have a great selection as well. Their prices are reasonable and they carry the best brands on the market.

In addition to all of the choices for the model enthusiasts, the jewelry maker will find lots of goodies as well. Hobby Lobby has a fantastic selection of beads and supplies. They even carry organizers that allow you to keep all of your jewelry making supplies in one place. The items used for jewelry making can also be used for sewing projects.

In fact, sewers are also well represented at Hobby Lobby. They have a wide variety of fabrics in a variety of price-ranges; although it is true that they don't have as wide of a selection as JoAnn Fabrics. There are also many different patterns to choose from, as well as a wide range of supplies.

Really, Hobby Lobby offers something for just about everyone. You can't go wrong with Hobby Lobby if you are in the market for any hobby supplies or simply unique accents for your home. It is also nice to know that they offer unique decorative furniture pieces as well. During certain times of the year, such as the run-up to the Christmas season, Hobby Lobby offers deep discounts on their furniture pieces. It is also a great place to search for that one of a kind gift or to have that special work of art framed.

I hate Hobby Lobby SO MUCH. Ours recently moved to a bigger, newer location and it STILL looks like a 1970's design failure. The lighting and atmosphere are depressing; the poor quality, tacky, overpriced home decor comes from sweatshops in the developing world; the store and registers are always understaffed, they are often as not out of the item I went there for in the first place...I could go on, but I'm getting mad just thinking about it. Why shop there, you ask? I try not to, but sometimes I need an item and can't get across town to a more expensive specialty store, or can't wait for an on-line order. Just hope it's not on a Sunday, cause we all know NOBODY hobbies on their day off.

I cannot imagine that Mr. Green would approve of such un-Christian like conduct in any of his stores, and could only imagine what he might say if he knew what was going on.

organization, and I will do so.
I also feel that it is my right as a human being to not have to be subjected to such a hostile work environment, although if this situation was to change, I would LOVE my job back, and love to work for the company, if Mr. Bouillon wasn't my boss, and the company could prove to me that they were what they said the were.
In a recent interview with ChristiaNet.com, David Green shared his faith, his commitment to serving the Lord by serving his customers and employees, and his dedication to running a company that continually demonstrates the integrity of Biblical principles in everything this company does and says. When questioned about his customer service policies, Green replied that customer service was a company wide policy, and it started at the top. "Here at corporate, that's everyone's assignment." Green stated. "In fact, we say that the stores are focused on their customers and should be servants to their customers. Therefore, we at the corpora

I loved the idea of working for Hobby Lobby, and have had much needed experience to work in retail, as a framing manager, considering I held that title at another craft store, I believe I am capable for that. I feel that the work wasn't to hard, but the emotional stress, and the environment was too much for me, and many others. You don't have to take my word for it that I was a hard worker, and that the environment was hostile. Just look at your list of employees who quit, or got fired. Sure, I know some were people who couldn't handle the work, or some were people that slacked off from their job. But do you think that everyone was? I do not. Just take any of the names I gave you, and ask them.
I feel that it is my right as a Christian to obtain a peaceful protest permit, and conduct a protest on the day of the Grand-Opening. I feel that all the Christians here in this area need to know that Hobby Lobby employs almost evil people, and then claim to be a Christian-based organizatio

Christina Senton, had to take her daughter to the doctor one day, so she worked a half a day, the following day, she wasn't there until after noon, and the following day, she was also about two hours late. This employee still had a job, so why was it that when I ask for a half a day to rest, to be better for the next work day, I was berated? Is it because I am not an "attractive" woman, who wears low cut shirts like Christina and others?
I feel that this company has been completely false to the public, and to "new hire" employees. In the new employee handbook, it says, " The company believes that the overall emotional, physical, and spiritual health of the employee is essential to proper job performance and healthy living." I believe that statement is false. If the company believed in those things, then they would not hire a man like Steve Bouillon, who does nothing but hurt, curse, and cause emotional damage to his employees. How can you contradict yourself like that?
    I loved

stops and picks up a case of beer, and drinks it all every night.
Later that afternoon, I was feeling very bad. Sick to my stomach, exhausted, over worked, and under appreciated. I tried to find Mr. Bouillon, which for a long time I was unsuccessful, then as he returned from outside, I asked him if it was possible if I could take the rest of the day, go home, get better, rest, and come back the next day. I told him, that I was not any use to him now. I was feeling bad, not accomplishing much, making several trips to the bathroom, and spending more time in there that I was on the floor. Very quickly, he began to be defensive, and explain to me, that everyone was over-worked and tired. Then I responded with, "Well, if it's a problem then I will just stay." He yelled to me, "Just get out!" At that point, he walked away from me very quickly, and I hadn't a clue if I was fired, or what he meant by that.
I don't really understand why I wasn't allowed to go home. Another employee, Ch

(which had been injured earlier in the day due to a glass cut). Neither of these incidents got an apology or any sign of sympathy whatsoever.
To me, even at a non-Christian oriented store, this conduct would not be tolerated and it would be dealt with very seriously.
The following morning when we arrived to the store, everyone was amazed, and talking about the incident that occurred the previous night. Everyone was shocked that an apology had never been made, or for that matter not even a sign of appreciation. A few of us continued to talk about Mr. Bouillon's appearance. He had a very "hung-over" appearance. He had on very dirty clothes, he had not shaved for what looked like two, or possibly three days. His eyes were very red, and was very violent with employees that tried to speak to him.
That very day, his step-son, Jeremy, which was there working from another store to help with the store set, made the statement to Mike Hodge, that every night on the way home Steve stop
