Stories About How Children Were Left in Cars and Found Dead.
How Could Someone Forget that a Child is in a Car?
Why do people do this? Let's look at a few cases and see what their reasoning is.

Mother left her toddler buckled in the back seat of her car as she shopped for groceries at Costco. Other shoppers noticed the boy about 11:30 am. Officers were able to get into the locked car and determine that the boy was OK and didn't need medical attention. Officers waited with him until the mother returned to the car about noon.
"We let the mother take her child home," said Capt. Doug Moretto. "It could have been just an error in judgment."
After reading this, I could not help but think what would have happened if someone had taken the child. We would have another missing boy and a mother who was so sorry she left him in the car. And they call it an "error" in judgment?

Police investigated what appeared to be the heat-related death of a 23-month-old girl who was strapped into a child safety seat inside a car for about nine hours. Police spokeswoman Sherry Llewellyn said the preliminary investigation indicated that the incident was likely accidental.
"Right now, this does appear to have been a horrible tragedy, but one that was very likely an accident," she said.
Police said they believe the girl died of heat stroke. If the incident is determined to be accidental, charges likely will not be filed in the case, Llewellyn said.
According to the police, the child's mother was present, had discovered the child and was very distraught.
Do you believe this? How could anyone leave a baby in a car that long and call it an accident?

An 18-month-old boy has died after a mother left him in the back seat of a pickup truck for six hours. Around 3 pm, the father of the child arrived at PetSmart were the mother was working, and noticed the baby in the backseat of the mother's truck. The child's father notified police, but it was too late.
What kind of mother would leave a baby in a car for six hours? Why couldn't the father baby-sit the child? Was this the first time she did this?

A toddler died after being left inside a hot car for more than an hour on a day when temperatures hit the triple-digits.
Family members told police they had spent the early afternoon at a nearby water park. When they returned to their home, there was apparently some confusion about who was responsible for bringing 16-month-old Markus Lewis inside.
Emergency personnel were summoned shortly before 3 pm. Lunchtime preparations were underway when they started wondering where Markus was.
"The mother went out to the van, and that's where the child was, inside the van with the windows up," Sgt. Griggs said. "The child was unconscious."
Emergency workers began CPR while arrangements were made to fly the baby to a hospital. Markus was taken by helicopter to Children's Medical Center Dallas, where he was pronounced dead.
Everyone gets out of the van and no one thinks about the baby? Makes me wonder what kind of family this is?

Kamila Brown, 19-month-old girl was picked up in the day care's van from the family's home. Authorities believe the child may have been left in that same van for nearly six hours during one of the hottest days so far this year. Kamila's parents, Yamessie Dorsey and Kevin Brown said they were called by the day care around 4 p.m and were told to go to the hospital. When they got to the hospital, they found out that their baby was dead. It seems that the driver forgot to take Kamila out of the van.
My question is didn't someone do a head check at the day care and notice she was missing?

Ocoee, Florida
A 22-month-old girl died after being left in the back seat of a car while her mother worked at Ocoee City Hall. The death was considered a mistake, police said, because the mother was supposed to take the girl to day care, but it was normally the father's responsibility to take the child.
The mother said she arrived at work at Ocoee City Hall around 9 am, and she discovered the child unconscious in the car when she took her lunch break around noon.
The child was taken by ambulance to Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
No charges have been filed.
The death was considered a mistake? I know when I get out of a car and I would obviously know if someone was in the back seat.
Why is it that some people think that if a child is strapped into a child safety seat they can just leave them there as they go about their business? It makes me sick when I go pass a car and see a child there alone. Then when something does happen to the child the police just lets it slide. Somehow we should make them aware that if leave your child in a car, unattended, that is neglect and also abuse.

Post a CommentI agree with Grace. I have see people treat their better than they do their kids.
If you go down North Brand her in Glendale Ca. you will see large banners hanging all up and down the street warning you not to leave your children in your car. I am proud that we have these banners. I would not even leave my dog in the car for fear that the heat might kill him. How could people think any less of their children?
