Storm in Paradise

Drew Bush
Small caresses, little sighs.

I turn around and look into your eyes.

We walk the sandy beach beneath crimson skies.

The sea breeze blows through your hair.

It is at your beautiful face I do stare.

The waves gently lap at the shore.

Sea gulls take off for flight and begin to soar.

The clouds race fast across the sky.

The winds pick up and lightning flashes nearby.

We run quickly down the beach.

Hurry! Our bungalow is almost within reach.

Quarter sized raindrops pelt our heads.

The waves begin to crash and erode the sand.

Thunder crashes with tremendous force.

The rain and wind batter us without remorse.

Finally, we reach our little shelter.

We close the door before the crash of thunder.

We sit the couch and watch the storm.

I feel you next to me, all nice and warm.

I hold you close as the storm gets worse.

I promise I'll protect you forever more.

Within minutes, the storm subsides.

We walk outside into blue skies.

The waves subside as the winds die.

Into the sun, the birds fly high.
