Stouffer's Pepperoni French Bread Pizza

Consumer Product Review

Thomas J McCabe

Last week, I purchased a package of Stouffer's Pepperoni French Bread Pizza and I'm very glad I did so. Through the years, I have eaten this variety of frozen pizza many times and consider it to be one of the best varieties of frozen pies I have eaten.

Presented here, in an effort to assist the consumer, is an article which reviews and examines Stouffer's Pepperoni French Bread Pizza.

Size
The net weight of the two-pack of Stouffer's Pepperoni French Bread Pizza is 11.25 ounces (318 grams). One French bread pizza is considered one serving. In physical size, this pizza measures in at roughly 7"x 3".

Price
The regular retail price charged for one 11.25 ounce package of Stouffer's Pepperoni French Bread Pizza at Hartford, Connecticut area supermarkets averages between $3.49 and $3.69.

When I purchased a box of this pizza at CVS Pharmacy last week, the sale price was 2/ $6, or $3.00 for one box. That works out to $1.50 per French bread pizza, which I think is very reasonable.

Texture / Consistency
As a matter of personal preference, I prefer to heat many food items, including Stouffer's Pepperoni French Bread Pizza in a conventional oven instead of in a microwave oven. Although the cooking instructions say to cook the pizza at 350*F, I like to let it cook slower at 300*F - 325*F, which produces a slightly softer pizza. Also, I prefer cooking the pizza on a baking sheet. The crust is still nice and crispy when cooked that way.

In the past, I have cooked this frozen pizza in a microwave oven and its texture when cooked was just fine. Whether it's cooked according to instructions in a conventional oven or a microwave oven, this pizza offers several pleasing textures.

The French bread upon which the pizza is built is pleasingly crisp, yet somewhat chewy. The pepperoni slices are real and chewy, restaurant-style pepperoni and the mozzarella cheese is the real thing. All put together, these textures create a very pleasing mouth feel.

Taste / Flavor
Stouffer's frozen products are known for their high quality and delicious flavor and this frozen pizza is a great example of Stouffer's frozen food prowess. Almost elegant in nature because of its French bread base, Stouffer's Pepperoni French Bread Pizza is a very tasty frozen item.

The French bread tastes fresh and appealing and the tomato pizza sauce is actually quite flavorful and features a slight 'kick', or spiciness. The pepperoni pieces on this pie are very tasty and they are similar to pepperoni served on pizza parlor- made pies. The mozzarella cheese is refreshingly authentic and it accents the other ingredients very well.

Packaging
Stouffer's Pepperoni French Bread Pizza is packaged in a cardboard box that features Stouffer's distinctive orangeish-red and black color scheme. The front label of the box shows an appetizing close-up photo of two of the cooked pizzas and the rear and side panels list all relevant ingredient and nutritional information, as well as cooking instructions.

Inside the box, the pizza is further packaged in a clear plastic pouch that is easy to open.

Overall Rating
All things considered, Stouffer's Pepperoni French Bread Pizza is a delicious, high quality product. This pizza can be heated in a conventional oven or in a microwave oven. Available at food retailers across America, this frozen pizza is highly recommended by this food writer.
