This stuffing mix is packaged in a six ounce box and is available all through the year, but is prominently displayed on grocery store shelves during the holiday season. The front of the box depicts a very tasty looking stuffing that goes wonderfully with turkey and other poultry dishes. The price of this stuffing varies between two dollars and change and only one dollar when the holiday specials are in full swing.
Preparation of this turkey flavored stuffing is extremely easy. After boiling one and a half cups of water and one fourth of a cup of butter or margarine in a saucepan, the entire contents of the pouch of mix gets added to the pan. The pan then gets removed from the heat source and allowed to stand for approximately five minutes. This enables the mix to fully absorb the water and butter. A fork is then used to fluff up the stuffing before serving. This product can also be prepared in the microwave for even easier cooking. Directions for cooking this stuffing inside the bird is also included on the side of the box, although most nutritionists and health care professionals do not recommend this cooking method.
One sixth of a box of Stove Top Turkey Stuffing Mix Prepared contains one hundred and sixty calories. There is sixty calories from Fat with one gram of Total Fat. There is no Saturated or Trans Fat in this product, which is excellent news. There is four hundred and forty milligrams of Sodium in each serving as well as twenty one grams of Total Carbohydrate. There is also two grams of Sugar in each half cup of prepared stuffing. On the plus side, there is three grams of Protein, eight percent of the daily recommended value of Vitamin A, six percent of Iron and eight percent of Folate in each half cup.
While nothing can equal the taste of a homemade stuffing or dressing, this stuffing mix comes close. It is quite delicious, very filling and closely mirrors the flavor of a family recipe of turkey stuffing. It goes wonderfully with the traditional Thanksgiving meal and makes an excellent side dish for a chicken dinner during the week. If you are looking to save a few dollars or a few minutes of time this holiday season, consider using Stove Top Turkey Stuffing Mix. You will not be disappointed.
