Strangest Conspiracy Theories

Henry Lamb
People around the world have always attempted to explain the cause for an event or for a series of events, especially if it revolves around something controversial. The underlying explanations are so radical to the point that they are suggested to be covert, secret and something that is influenced in a "behind the scenes" kind of way. These conspiracy theories are tantamount to nothing more than urban legend and myth.

Here is a list of some of the most popular conspiracy theories that people have come up with because they haven't got anything else to do.

NASA Moon Landings

In 1969, the first man on the moon was Neil Armstrong. But many suggest that the moon landings of the Apollo 11 never took place at all. Enthusiasts of this theory believe that it is impossible to land on the moon because humans would be exposed to radiation directly from the Sun; therefore the astronauts could not have survived such a journey. There are also questions about the media coverage of the entire trip. It is suggested that the photographs taken from the moons surface are fake because they are too clear, there are no stars in any of the photos and none of the astronauts mention anything about the stars seen from the moons surface. It is also suggested that any film used on the moon would have melted anyway. As for video, everything was apparently shot in a movie studio. This might also explain why the flag waves in the wind despite there being no wind on the moon.

September 11: Orchestrated by the U.S.

A more sensitive topic includes that the September 11 attacks were all planned out by the U.S. government to cover up something more sinister. Evidence that supposedly suggests this is that the Twin Towers fell straight down, a characteristic similar to that of a controlled demolition. In fact, it is often pointed out that a building before or since the 9-11 attack has never collapsed because of a fire. Also, Flight 77 was able to fly in the direction of the Pentagon area for almost 40 minutes without being intercepted by U.S. Forces. This is often questioned as it is highly unusual given that the Pentagon is also close by to the Andrews Air Force Base. It is also claimed that the FBI has confiscated a video from a nearby gas station that has yet to be released to the public. Further allegations include that the whole event was planned by the governments of the U.S. Israel and Iraq either together or separately.

Barcodes: Mind control under our noses?

Another strange suggestion is that barcodes on everyday products are actually used as a means to control the population; more ridiculously, it is for the Satanic intentions. It is suggested that embedded in barcodes is the so-called "Number of the Beast". In fact, there are fanatics of the theory out there who refuse to have their products labeled with barcodes because it is part of the prophecy that the Beast is controlling them through it.

Microsoft: Wingding messages

Software company Microsoft has also entered the limelight of conspiracy theories through their Wingdings font which is supplied in their Office software. In 1992, with the release of the Windows 3.1 operating system, it was discovered that the character sequence for the letters NYC (New York City) were translated to a skull and crossbones symbol, Star of David, and a thumbs up gesture. People have since then translated this Wingding phenomenon as a message that the September 11 attacks were approved. Approved by who? That question has yet to be answered.

Call them crazy and out of their minds, but conspiracy theorists sure have a knack for connecting the dots. Even if those dots don't even exist. These theories of course will always remain as theories. It is only the most loyal of believers who can bring truth to the suggested evidence that have played with man's imagination for the past years and probably many years to come.
