Highlights of the main leadership strategies:
Successful leadership requires the leader to analyze, organize and instill values in people around them. They should be able to take the first step without hesitation and lead with constancy and with their own commitment to the ethics they have laid down. They should trod the path of morals first, and before expecting others to submit to their orders.
An effective leader must be able to create a vision and share it with the personnel of the company. The task may be developed but cannot be delegated since the ultimate responsibility lies with the leader.
A leader should evaluate the company's competitors and should take advantage of their weaknesses. By evaluating the forecasts, current changes and competitors' behavior aims can be defined and major decisions taken.
A good leader should not be autocratic but should use a democratic approach. Individuals should be encouraged to participate in decision making and sharing opinions, so they can be more receptive to learning.
A good leader should also be a good listener. He should be able to gain the confidence and trust of people around him. He should treat them courteously and with attention and bind them together, to be able to face the more dire situations. Leaders should not ignore their self-analysis. They should admit and improve their own shortcomings as the success of the organization revolves around them.
An influential leader should back up the interests of his group, and persuade others to follow the most direct-routed path to success.
Removing the barriers of communication is another challenge which all leaders face. Effective communication is required to clarify the goals of the organization, and identifying the correct means often pose problems. To solve this, a leader should have a keen understanding of his followers, and should be in a position to ascertain what medium would suit his team mates well.
A leader should be able to bear criticism and resentful behavior of his team mates. He should be mentally tough and resistant to all negative behavior. He should not trust blindly in friends, and should forever import wisdom in his actions and words.
Lastly, general maturity and patience should be present. Storms and emotions should pass by him, requiring him to stay calm and cool. A good leader should always be committed to excellence, and desiring only the best from others as well.
