Poor Strawberry was as sad as he could be.
His beautiful coat was snarled, you see.
He wanted to hide somewhere, where it was dark,
Because the other cats teased him just for a lark.
His human took him to visit the vet.
"He'll give you a Christmas present, my pet."
Strawberry was groomed and given a haircut.
"Well, where's my present?" he asked in a huff.
"The least he could do is give me a treat.
Yum...maybe something fishy or maybe something sweet.
No treat," he fumed. "I knew she was lyin'!"
But, when he looked in a mirror, and he looked like a LION!
The other cats stared at him with fear.
Awed, they didn't laugh, and they didn't jeer.
Strawberry rumbled, his tail a proud crescent,
My, what a lovely Christmas present!

A wonderful poem, Mary! Thanks
I love cats, and I'm glad Strawberry transformed into a lion just like the ugly duckling transformed in her own right ;-)
