From beneath the elevated barn house where they were born.
They are of no shame.
Their mother watches and rests in a fenced yard
That lies at a vertical angle from the yard with her pups.
She sees them, but they don't see her.
She leaps up from her hiding spot as the homeowner approaches.
She circles back to the yard where her pups lie
Proudly sneaking up on them.
As one pup eagerly sprints underneath her the others follow.
Seconds later she leaps up again.
It makes her day when she spots food
At the edge of a nearby vacant yard.
She will travel great distances
To find food so that she can feed her five precious pups.
