Robert Lee, TX 76945
United States of America
Robert Lee is a very small town in Texas. It only takes 10 minutes to go through the whole town. Every year when they do this, the entire town shows up. There's even people from surrounding cities who come out to see the town as well. They have games set up for the kids, a face painting booth, and there's music played throughout downtown.
They also have their homecoming during this time. They have a huge parade that the schools, daycares, and different businesses get involved in. There's about 20 floats, 2 fire trucks, police cars, old fashioned cars, the marching band, cheerleaders, and different community groups get together and walk through the town. They throw out candy for the kids along the roads, and some groups throw beads.
Once the parade goes through downtown, they head down the main road back to the high school. At that point, everyone heads over to the gym at the high school campus, and they have a pep rally. The pep rally consists of announcing the football players, having the cheerleaders perform different cheers and dance routines, colorguard does their dance routines, the marching band plays a couple of songs, and some of the groups from the parade make announcements pertaining to their business or community meetings.
They try to get everyone as involved as possible. From there, everyone goes home and gets ready for the game. Most just go out to eat or get what they need for the game. Then they all head back to the high school campus and get ready for the game to start. Right before the game starts, they announce the football players once more, for those who didn't go to the pep rally. The cheerleaders perform once again, and the marching band starts playing.
Then, the football game gets kicked off. AT half time, they have the homecoming courts come out on the field, and they announce the homecoming king and queen, and the runners up. After that, they allow the marching band, color guard, and cheerleaders to come out on the field and do their half time show. It's a great show. The cheerleaders do two cheers, then the colorguard and marching band perform for about a half hour. After they finish up, the cheerleaders go back out once more to perform another cheer and a dance routine. Then the game starts back up again.
After the game is over, everyone goes out to parties, and the high schoolers normally go to the school dance. It's a fun filled day for everyone. The events start around one in the afternoon, and go on until about eight or nine at night, not including any parties that anyone goes to.
