In Philadelphia, a classical flutist was handcuffed and arrested during a crackdown on street music. The neighborhood he was in is suing the city, according to the Associated Press.
Residents of the town have complained about street musicians and performers, causing police to make arrests.
The flutist, Felix Wilkins, was arrested a day after another man, for singing in Rittenhouse square. Both men have been charged with disorderly conduct.
Wilkins' case was dismissed, yet the musician decided to file a lawsuit. He says that he was detained at the police station for merely "assert(ing) his right to play a musical instrument on the public streets of Philadelphia", according to the Associated Press.
Anthony Riley is the 20-year-old singer that was arrested. He is due in court next week.
Romulo Diaz is the city solicitor, and is hoping to bring a compromise between the two parties. Diaz would not comment on the lawsuit.
Honest driver returns $17,000
An honest motorcycle driver in Manila, Philippines, returned $17,000 left behind by a passenger, according to the Associated Press.
Although Iluminado Boc could have used the money for his sick wife and unpaid rent, he instead turned it over to police in Tagbilaran city, which is on central Bohol island. The Philippine Daily reports that Boc showed up at the police station just as she did to report the bag of money missing.
"It was not mine," Boc was quoted as saying.
The 45-year-old man had been struggling financially with both unpaid rent, and a sick wife who had been taken to the hospital on the day he found the money. The woman gave him $32 as a reward, around seven times what a man in his line of work makes in a day.
Both stories originally reported by The Associated Press, "Philippine driver returns lost money" and "Flutist, singer charged in Philadelphia"
