Stress

Life at Work

PenPress
At work we all face politics,
All are required to employ tactics.
We go to school to pursue a career,
But that does not completely prepare
Us for the odds that we face,
When we get thrown into the race.
I have to rely on my experience,
To handle people with difference.
I have seen so many different type,
That taught me to control the hype.
I want to briefly describe them to you,
Maybe you too have come across a few.

In the beginning,
It gets kind of confusing.
Cindy doesn't talk to Mindy,
Randy likes to go out with Sandy.
Most ask: "how are you?" and walk away,
Your well being doesn't matter anyway.

The whole day, Thomas surfs the Internet,
And Christine is famous for saying 'it' to you direct.
She is pleasant when in a good mood,
Otherwise she can be very rude.
You don't even know if it's PMS
Or if her life is totally a mess.

Some are always too friendly,
But the job they do inadequately.
There seems to be a scheme,
Nobody works as a team.
Still your stuff anybody will grab,
And oh, Mark is such a drab.
There are also some slackers,
The rest can be back stabbers.
Reminds me of Karen, who is so sly,
She is known to always lie.
She tries her best to sneak,
To get info that she can leak.

You will be at a loss,
To talk about the boss.
If you are in his lunch club,
You are guaranteed a pay-stub.
In the picture perfect office,
There are the accomplice.
You can almost feel the vibe,
As if it is a different tribe.
Just because they aspire,
They don't hesitate to conspire.
If you don't acquire the 'skill',
You will be the one they'll kill.

So, sometimes more than doing the job,
You have to learn how to handle the mob.
To hold on to your job,
You have to turn into a blob.
That doesn't mean you love your job less,
It is expected to come with a lot of stress.
You just want to stay focused,
And forget about what you discussed.
Sometimes though you do need to vent,
With no specific details and no harm meant.
You also remain grateful to the 'true' friends, who
Support you all the way through.

Note :

I have experienced much of these over the years. I just had to write about it to get it out of my chest.

I know I am not the only one who feels this way.

To all my 'friends' out there, THANK YOU.
