You can't be an overachiever without having some stress associated with it. If you think about how much you are putting on yourself all the time, you might realize that it can't possibly be good for you. You probably spend most of your day thinking about what else you can do to get perfect grades and be more active in school. If you had enough time in the day, you would probably join every club in high school along with all sports. That isn't physically possible, but you are probably involved in the school play and school politics.
After all of the school activities that you are involved in during the day, you probably work at least a part time job and you may even be involved in some volunteer work in your community. It isn't likely that you allow yourself time to get in trouble. That is a great benefit to being an overachiever. Unfortunately, this can lead to a situation that you don't have time to cope with all the problems that may be occurring in your life. You don't have time to "hang out" with friends. Getting into a good college is important to your future. Just don't forget that you should take the time to be a teenager as well. When you don't, you are putting far more stress on yourself than is necessary. Overachievers have a habit of forgetting that they are still young and should act according at least some of the time. Too much stress in your life will come when you are an adult.
You can drive yourself far beyond the boundaries of normal teenage stress. Teenagers have enough stress in their lives without stressing beyond the ordinary. Stress can lead you to heart troubles later in life. You can drive yourself crazy with all the problems that you create for yourself because of your need for perfection. Don't let the stress of being an overachiever overshadow your teenage life. Be a teenager while you still have the chance. There is nothing like getting into the future and realizing that you were far too stressed out to enjoy the benefits of being a teenager.
