Stress Causes Body Odor

Find a Scent or Aroma to Cure Body Odor

Cheryl Myers
Stress can take a toll on our bodies. One of the effects of stress is bad breath and body odor. These odors are more prevalent during times of stress, but stress isn't the only cause of body odor. We can find ways to eliminate bad breath and body odor through diet, aroma therapy, and body scents. Here is a guide to reducing odors, choosing a body scent or aroma, and finding a way to make the scent and aroma more effective.

What is the secret behind choosing a body scent or aroma during periods of stress? Its choosing a scent that is strong enough for a man and a woman. This may seem like a difficult task because men and woman have different tastes in scents. For instance, freesia may smell great to a man, but he may not want to wear a scent that has a feminine aroma. It is hard enough to find different scents for work and play, but do we need another one for difficult or stressful times?

Each aroma has unique properties that create a state of mind. Choosing a scent, body spray, or deodorant is a personal choice and sometimes these choices reflect and define our personality, behaviors, and moods. During a stressful period, an additional scent in the medicine cabinet or cosmetic case can cure the most stressful situations, but what scents are good for a stressful time and how do we ensure a cure for the trauma our bodies and minds are going through?

Natural aromas like lavender, freesia, lily, powder, and rose are great for women. Aromas like ylang-ylang, lemon, lime, and citrus are great for men. Any aroma from the mint species is excellent for both men and women.

Soaking in Dead Sea salts or Epsom salt extract toxins out of the body and make any deodorant, or body scents more effective. Stress causes the body to odor as toxins build up from stress hormones. Bath salts extract many of the toxins, reducing or eliminating body and breath odors.

Diet plays a role in body and breath odor. If you are on a low carbohydrate diet, you may notice an increase in body odor or suffer from incurable bad breath. Carbohydrates are necessary during times of stress not only to reduce body and breath odors, but the body needs carbohydrates to gear up the body and mind to allow stress detoxify. A good low calorie carbohydrate diet consists of grains, nuts, seeds, fruits, and vegetables.

Sugar-loving bacteria feast on processed and refined foods. A diet rich in greens is an internal deodorizer. Chlorophyll and other phytonutrients will clean the body of toxins and odor causing bacteria. Eating a fresh leaf mint cures bad breath immediately and lasts longer than a breath mint.

Using an antiperspirant will sometimes cause more body odor than it does to help it. Aluminum is the primary ingredient in many over-the-counter deodorants, and aluminum is suspected of accumulating problems in the nervous system. The reason we perspire is because our body is riding of toxins and other bacteria. By using an antiperspirant, we are trapping the toxins and germs inside of our bodies, increasing the stress our bodies already have. We may feel confident hiding the odor using antiperspirant, but the odor is revealed through our breath.

Spearmint, Peppermint, and wintergreen are excellent for refreshing the mind and body. They are excellent at eliminating bad breath, but the aroma invigorates ambition and clarity, helping us to cope and rid of stress.

Mint is refreshing and invigorating for both men and women, making it an excellent aroma to fight body odor during times of stress. It is strong enough for a man and a woman.

This is so true. I have a very acute sense of smell (That's why I smoke. I quit for a while and couldn't stand the constant scent of people...Most stink) If someone is scared you actually can smell fear. I didn't realize, but it makes sense, that if the toxins don't come out in the pit, they do on the breath...oooooh peweee.

Great and informative article. Stress causes the the autonomic nervous system to function by sending out adrenalin. That causes accelerated perspiration, less salivation, etc. and also weakens your immune system so bacterial growth is increased. Ergo, sweat, bad breath and body odor. When someone is trying to de-stress you they say "no sweat". They really mean it.

Wow, you have me cupping my hand around my mouth, blowing, and then sniffing. Well I'm still ok, maybe it has something to do with raw vegetables? Either way I like the different scents your naming and I have to check out some. Thanks
