Stress Reducing Tips

Throw the Stress Away

Brandy A.
Everyone stresses out, we all go through it, and we all handle it differently. That's why there are so many solutions. I've listed a few that I've tried over the years, and still do to this day. They really do work, and you'll feel better after trying them. If one does nothing for you, then please move on to the next one. Keep going till you find what works best for you.

1. Pick up the phone. Calling a friend or family member is a great, simple way to instantly relax. Having a conversation with people that are close to you acts as a pick me up. Joking around and chatting about worry free topics will lift your spirits and put you at ease.

2. Sing. Lullabys are not just for babies. Although it soothes them to sleep and pacifies them when they are upset, it can also work to calm yourself down. A soft tune or even reading a poem, can shift your feelings.

3. Exercise. This helps you to stay healthy and energized. As well as venting your stress out. Doing cardio or even yoga changes your mood from angry and worried to relaxed and lifted. Through concentration, you'll tend to forget your worries.

4. Keep busy. If you keep yourself going and constantly busy, you won't even notice the stress you might be feeling. But remember to pace yourself, too much could stress you out more. Keep it simple with hobbies that you love doing, and relaxes you also.

5. Write a journal. Writing down what bothers you helps you deal with it easier. This could cure your feelings completely. You don't have to be a writer o write in a journal. Just like talking to a close friend, sharing your words can keep you balanced mentally.

6. Aromatherapy. Whether it's flowers or incense. Certain scents are known to calm and soothe. While lounging in your home or while doing chores, have some incense burning or a nice flower arrangement set out.

7. Comfort food. Put the diet on hold, if you're feeling stressed or over worked. Take time for yourself. Indulge in that tasty treat. Forget calories, you can always work that off later. But act for the present, and make yourself happy now, with the little things you enjoy.

8. Treat yourself. Do what makes you happy. It could be just sitting on the back porch or a shopping spree with the girls. You should always take time for yourself, especially if the stress is too over whelming. Take a break from it all and do something just for you.

9. Get a pet. Pets are known to be stress reducers. Having something warm and fuzzy to cuddle up to will calm your nerves. Like your own security blanket.

10. Volunteer. Helping others always lifts spirits. Just knowing that you're helping to make the world better, one step at a time. This is a great feeling for anyone. If you don't have the time, maybe you can donate some clothing that you don't wear anymore. Making a money donation is always accepted as well. Feel proud in knowing that you were lending a hand when they needed you.
