Stress: The Useless Emotion
Stressing Over a Situation Doesn't Improve the Situation, so Stop Stressing
My main focus when working as a Holistic Healing Practitioner (HHP) is performing massages on my clients. Every single one of them without exception when I would ask what was going on would reply "I'm so stressed my neck, by back, etc is killing me." I'm talking about seeing anywhere from 80 to 100 clients per month and all would say the same thing.
Now while this may be great to keep me working, it's really not great for your body. Not to mention all the people out in the world who don't go for a massage or some other activity that could help relieve their stress.
I would ask my clients the following questions:
Stressed, really? Why? They would answer me and say things like:
I just lost my job.
My home is going in foreclosure.
My parent(s) are sick.
My parent(s) are dying.
I got hurt and can't work right now and less money is coming in.
My child got arrested.
The list could go on and on, but these were the "top" reasons for being stressed. After I would hear their reasons, I would reply: So, tell me is being "stressed" improving that particular situation? I mean is stressing out and making yourself sick and in physical pain doing *anything* to improve the situation? Is it making you any less unemployed? Is it making the house get out foreclosure? Is your stressing yourself to the point of being unable to hold your head up straight preventing your loved one from dying (or if already deceased, is it bringing them back to life)?
I'm not saying any of these things to be cold and uncaring, actually quite the opposite. Stress does *not* make any situation better. So, why do it? Just accept the situation. I felt like this even before I became an HHP, and before I started hearing the laments of client after client.
About two years ago I heard about a book called "The Law of Attraction" by Esther and Jerry Hicks. The book talks about the natural Law of Attraction, how everything we experience in our life is a manifestation of our thoughts. Quantum physics has proven that our thoughts send out waves or vibrations and that everything we see in our life started as a thought.
You don't have to believe the Law of Attraction exists anymore than you have to "believe" gravity exists, but it does. Gravity is what is holding down in your chair, and if you walk off a mountain it doesn't matter if you're rich or poor, religious or not, you will fall through the air and eventually hit the ground. All thanks to the Law of Gravity.
When you are stressing out over a situation you are focusing on the situation that you do not want. The Law of Attraction (LOA) does not care that this is something you don't want, it just responds to your focus and brings you more of the same. Sometimes it's easier for people to recognize patterns in other people rather than in themselves, so have you ever known anyone who constantly complained about a situation and always ended up in that situation?
For example, the woman who laments "I am so sick and tired of dating losers. All I find are men who are jobless or drink too much or use drugs or don't want to work. I really am sick and tired of finding these losers. Every time I answer a dating ad and meet the guy he's a loser."
If this woman knew about the LOA she would realize that this should be no "shock" to her. She is completely focused on the negative, so LOA is bringing *exactly* what she is focusing on: The negative.
This same woman, if she wants to change her situation, needs to change her focus. She needs to state what she does want. She could say things like: I am looking forward to meeting a man who has a well paying job. I enjoy talking to men I meet on the dating sites because I have so many options. There are men who enjoy having goals in their personal life and work life. There are men who enjoy traveling, swimming, (or whatever other activity this female would like her future mate to have in common with her).
Do you see how stressing over a situation just brings you more of the same? If you keep saying "I can't find a job. There are no jobs out there. I'm never going to find a job because so many people are out of work. I'm going to lose my house because I can't find a job, etc." Again, LOA will happily fulfill your request. I guarantee that you will not find a job and you will lose your house. I can guarantee this not because I'm psychic, but because it's just the Law of Attraction doing what it does.
Now that I know about the Law of Attraction and how it works, I can see how it has worked over and over in my past for both good and bad.
My parents were in their 40's when I was born. I spent my entire life "knowing" they were going to die before I was thirty. I would say things to them like: "Great you had me in your 40's and now I won't be like other people. You'll be dead before I'm 30. You know, you're going to be dead before I'm 30. I hope you're happy with yourselves, if I have children they won't get to enjoy their grandparents because you're going to be dead before I'm 30."
Did you notice, not only did I "think" they would be dead before I was 30, but I stated it as a fact. Guess what? My father died suddenly when I was 28 and my mother died suddenly when I was 29. Many of you are going to say "Oh, that's just a coincidence." No, there are no coincidences. We get what we think about.
Another example from my life that happened over and over, and finally learned not to do this even before I learned about the LOA. I would call into work on occasion and say "I'm going to be late. I got a flat tire and need to take care of this." I said I had a flat tire, but really I'd either overslept or just didn't feel like going in for the whole day.
I used that excuse 3 times, and one time I got the flat tire on the way to work and 2 other times I got a flat tire within a week. I called for the flat tire and the LOA gave me what I requested.
On the good side, my whole life I have always said that if I get called to job for an interview it means soon after I will be offered the job, even now in this economy. I have no doubts. I declare this every time I get an interview. Each and every time without fail, I have done the interview and then a day or two later I am offered the job. Many times I end up having to decide which job to take because I get several offers.
If you still have doubts try out the Law of Attraction in your own life. Work on manifesting something small. I don't care what you choose, but make it something (at least in the beginning) that is easy for you to believe will happen.
Let's say you want at Starbucks Carmel Macchiato. In order for the LOA to bring you this caramel macchiato you'll want to do the following:
Have a clear idea of when you want to receive this drink.
State your desire in the positive.
State your desire with the feeling and emotion that you know for certain this is going to happen.
Visualize in your mind your drink and how it's going to taste and make you feel.
Using all the above pointers you might want to say something like:
I am looking forward to getting my free Starbucks Carmel Macchiato on Friday. I can taste it right now. I love how the vanilla mixed with the caramel is so creamy and sweet. I enjoy the whipped cream. It makes my caramel macchiato a little thicker and more like a treat than just a plain drink. Carmel Macchiatos are my favorite coffee drink.
Do this every morning and every night before you go to bed. Say the above (or whatever you're going to say) with feeling. You really want to envision the drink as if you're tasting it right now. Make this as real as possible in your mind.
If you follow these steps ,and give the LOA a little time to work I'm confident you'll be successful at manifesting that free drink. Either someone will offer to buy your drink or maybe something will "happen" at Starbucks and they give you the drink for free, or you'll get a gift card from someone. One way or another Universe will bring you that caramel macchiato.
