Stretch Island Fruit Strips: Natural Fruit Snacks

Review of a Healthy Snack Option

Tricia Goss
While there are certainly some fruits available - even at their peak in autumn months, and you can purchase produce shipped in from other parts of the world during the winter, the spring and summertime are the best times to enjoy fresh, delicious fruit. If you are seeking a way to enjoy your favorite fruits even when they are not in season, though, you might think you are out of luck.

Fortunately, you have another option. Stretch Island Fruit Strips are all-natural fruit snacks that are available any time of year. Each strip is 100 percent natural with no additives or preservatives and no added sugar. Any sugar in the snacks comes naturally from the fruit used to make them.

When your child is asking for a sweet snack or you have a craving for sugar but do not want to give in to cookies and candy, you can feel good about handing out Stretch Island Fruit Strips. Each one is equivalent to half of a serving of fruit. The USDA Food Pyramid recommends one to two servings of fruit per day, depending on your age and sex. In addition, Stretch Island Fruit Strips are only 45 calories per strip, which makes them a terrific snack option for anyone monitoring calorie intake.

They are very portable, too. Each Stretch Island Fruit Strip is individually wrapped and requires no refrigeration. You can carry one in your purse or pocket for a healthful snack, or slip one into your child's lunchbox or backpack. Stretch Island Fruit Strips are ideal for those kids (or grownups) who do not eat enough fruit and are finicky about what they will eat, since they offer a variety of favorite fruit flavors.

Nevertheless, it does not matter how portable, natural or low calorie a snack is if it does not taste good. Happily, Stretch Island Fruit Strips deliver in this area as well. We were able to sample the Summer Strawberry and the Harvest Grape flavors, and both were appreciatively enjoyed.

Summer Strawberry Stretch Island Fruit Strips are a natural strawberry red in color and have visible bits of fruit throughout. The Harvest Grape strips are a delightful deep purple and smell like fresh, ripe grapes as opposed to the artificial grape scent found in many grape-flavored snacks and beverages.

Stretch Island Fruit Strips are thin enough to carry easily yet thick enough that each bite is substantial and satisfying to chew. They are a bit sticky, so peeling the wrapper away bit by bit as you enjoy a fruit strip is recommended, although there is something to be said for licking the sweet remains from your fingers after relishing a fruit strip!

Stretch Island Fruit Strips are available in Autumn Apple, Abundant Apricot, Harvest Grape, Mango Sunrise, Orchard Cherry, Ripened Raspberry and Summer Strawberry. They are sold at most major supermarkets and whole foods stores, as well as online at StretchIslandFruit.com.
