Stretch Mark Prevention During Pregnancy

Kaya Cassan
Congratulations you are pregnant and the baby is growing day by day but so are your stretch marks. There are a number of crèmes you can use to help prevent or stop the severity of the stretch marks. Doctors try to claim that they are hereditary but prevention is the best key. Some women never get them while others get heavy stretch marks on their breasts, thighs and bellies.

"I never used anything on my stomach while I was pregnant and my stomach looked horrible after I had my baby," advised Bev.

It is advised to start adding preventative crème to your belly as soon as you find out you are pregnant because it will get you in the routine of doing it. The crème should be applied at least twice a day preferably morning and night. You should apply it to your abdomen, thighs and breast or anywhere you think you may get stretch marks.

When buying your crème there are certain ingredients you want to look for. Make sure your product has vitamin e oil, cocoa butter and sweet almond oil. There are a number of companies who make stretch mark ointment crèmes. I would definitely check heath food stores or companies that specialize in pregnancy care. There are a number of online stores that sell products for pregnant women. If you are unable to find a product in stores that agrees with you just make your own.

"It is really easy to make your own products. Traditionally it is what our relatives generations ago did to stay beautiful," advised Sharetta owner of ShanelAndre Body Care.

You can find all of the products you need in health food stores or you can order them online. It also may be fun to play doctor and create something to heal yourself in the privacy of your own home. You can also make some for your friends who are also pregnant and turn it into a baby belly party. If you visit any health food store they should have the below ingredients:

5 teaspoons of cocoa butter
1 oz of vitamin e oil
4 ½ oz of sweet almond oil

Firstly, you have to melt the cocoa butter with out over heating it into liquid form. Once that happens add the vitamin e and sweet almond oils and place mixture in a container. The crème will cool and become solid. It is best to store it at room temperature.
