Stroller Strides - A Great Workout for Mommy and Baby

If You're Looking for a Workout that Will Benefit You and Baby, This is It

As you may have read in some of my previous articles, I'm on a mission to lose the baby weight. Truth be told, I'm only 2 pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight seven months later--but I want to keep going. I wasn't exactly at an ideal weight before I got pregnant, and getting fit is always a goal. I tried to stick with a workout regimen when I was pregnant, but between the exhaustion and the nausea I just couldn't do it. So now here I am as a new mom with a sweet little baby that I am home with all day.

I'm a big power walker and that's great, but even for me it gets boring sometimes. Enter Stroller Strides--the new fitness fad for moms all over the country! This class is amazing, I just went to my first one yesterday and I am totally hooked. They offer several different classes, even some for while you are pregnant--but I am all about being a fit mama and this is for those of you out there like me. The nice part about this work out is that you don't have to leave the baby elsewhere, you stick them in the stroller and along they come on this workout phenomenon. At first you think it will be easy, sing some songs, push the stroller--but you would be wrong.

I know that Stroller Strides is not new, but it's just starting in our area. The first class is free which is great so you can be sure that this is for you. You power walk, you skip, you work your triceps, biceps, glutes, you do squats, lunges--you name it and it's incorporated into this one hour work out. It truly covers a lot within each class and the best part is that your baby's smiling face is looking up at you all the while. You do sing some songs, but not to fear no matter what your voice sounds like you'll be just fine. My baby was cracking up as I was using the resistance band and singing "Wheels on the Bus".

It's also nice because you are dealing with other moms who understand if your baby has a meltdown. They get it, they totally understand--it's just that might be bummed if it cuts into your work out time. I've been telling every mom I know about this class and I think it's a great way not only to get in a fantastic work out but also to meet other mothers in your area.

Check out Stroller Strides and you can become a fit mama--and bring your baby along for the ride!
