Strolling

Mike Powers

A poem. Monchielle. A leisurely walk on a summer afternoon.

Come now, let us stroll
Along this country lane
Lined with tall elm trees.
Our faces warmed by the sun,
And cooled by a gentle breeze.

Come now, let us stroll
Around the bend in the road.
One in heart and mind,
We'll walk hand-in-hand
And leave our cares behind.

Come now, let us stroll
Down toward the riverbank.
Let's take our leisure walk
Down there, toward the spot
Where we can walk and talk.

Come now, let us stroll
Along the river's edge
Where cooling breezes blow.
Let's stroll on for a while,
Until the sun sinks low...

I felt like I was walking on that road, too. Beautiful, and so peaceful.
