I have been flying for the past ten years. I have not had many layover until couple of years ago. Sometimes I had money and other times I did not. Here is a guide to how to spend your time while waiting for your flight.

For those who have money;

1) Stores: There are a lot of shops at RDU airport. They have Borders bookstores,they are open from 5:15am to 8:00pm, the phone number is 919-840-1155, a PGA golf shop is opening soon, the phone number is 919-840-0821,CNBC news, they sell newspapers from around the country and are open from 5am to 8 pm, the phone number is 919-840-5482, a collectibles shop by the name of Brighton collectibles, they sell leather goods, they are open from 7am to 7pm, the phone number is 919-840-5488 and lastly a Brooks Bother is open from 9am to 5pm, the phone number is 919-840-4550, they sell business attire. These stores are located on terminal 1. On terminal 2, there are shops such as Apple iPOD, which is a machine, which starts taking money from 4am to last flight departure, drug store is open from 5am to 8pm,and college team attire called University Marketplace is open from 5am to 8pm.

2) Spa: If you are feeling a little stressed, go to the spa. There on e location on terminal one and terminal two. You can get massages, facials, and manicure treatment, they are open from 5am to last flight departure.

3) Eat: If you want to eat take your pick. There are two pizza franchises, such as California Pizza Kitchen and Godfather's Pizza, they are both open by 10:30am to 8pm, the number for Godfather's Pizza is 919-840-0506. Starbucks, for all you coffee lovers is open form 4:30am to 8pm, the phone number is 919-840-0506. There is a bar and grill by the name of Carolina Varsity Bar and Grill is open from 5:30 to last flight, the phone number is 919-840-0506.

4) Internet: There are stations located throughout RDU airport. The service provider is AT&T.

5) Get your shoes shined. There is a place called Superior Shine, located in both terminals of RDU airport.

Those without money;

1) Sleep: I have done this a few times. It is best to sleep on top of your luggage so that it does not get stolen. At least you will get some rest. Also be sure to have your cell phone alarm on so that you do not miss your flight.

2) Read: Hopefully you packed a couple of books and magazines. This will definitely take up some time.

3) Cell phone: Play cell phone games or browse the internet(if you have this function). You can read national and international news.

4) People watch: If all else fails you have no books or you do not want to sleep. Just observe people. You may not want to look too long, security may start to question you. (Do this at your own risk)
