Meeting New People and Clubs

UNC Charlotte Clubs and Other ways for new students to meet people.

For New Students:

WOW: Week of Welcome, This event is filled with events and opportunities to win prizes. It starts the weekend before school starts and it last for an entire week. There is a lawn parties, student organization showcase, and many more activities.

Lawn Party: This event is put on by UCF Student Center (United Christian Fellowship). Located across from campus (it is within walking distance)

Student Organization Showcase: This event takes place from the Cone Center to the Bell tower also known as Atkins Library Plaza. There booths set up of most organizations that are active on campus. There will be plenty of literature on each student organization. This event happens during lunch time. This is a great way to meet like minded people and/or learn something new.

Organizations are broken down into twelve categories. Here is a few Academic, Greek, Honor Society, Interest, Religious, Service, and Sports.
Here is a short list of organizations separated by category:
Academic Organization: American Institute of Architecture Students, American Medical Student Association, Anthropology Club, Social Work Club, and Charlotte Geography Club.
Greek Organization: Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity, Chi Omega Sorority, Delta Zeta Sorority, Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.
Honor Society: National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Pi Sigma Alpha Fraternity (Political Science), and Psi Chi honor Society (Psychology)
Interest: A.C.E.S Hip Hop Dance Team, Art of Light Photography Club, Earth Club, and Gamer's Alliance.
Religious: Baptist Campus Ministry, Believers in Christ on Campus, Campus Bible Fellowship, and Campus Crusade for Christ.
Service: Niner Nation Foundation, HomeWork, Student Alumni Ambassadors, and Veterans Club.
Sports:Badminton, Bowling Club, Club Baseball, and Club Swimming.

Welcome Back Social: This event is located in the Cone University Center. No, this is not a university within a university it is the name of a building on campus. This event is for Linux enthusiast.

If you want to develop leadership skills, check out the Center for Leadership Development. As a freshmen you have the opportunity to join Emerging Leaders program. Some topics included Applications and Interviewing, Public Speaking, Goal Setting, and Time Management.

If you want an adventure, join Venture. At the beginning of the year at Venture office. Good way to meet new people and other freshmen like yourself. With this group you experience camping, kayaking, and there is a indoor climbing wall. There are day and overnight trips.

The easiest way to meet new people is in the your residential hall. When you are moving in. Residential halls typically have socials so that you can meet and greet fellow residents and Resident Advisers.
