Student Life: Dating on a Budget a Few Simple and Inexpensive Dating Ideas

Chris Tidwell
So you're going to school, and you have a girl you're dating, but you also have little to no cash. This presents a problem because obviously the usual dating places you would go to are very expensive. Dinner and a movie was always an old favorite, but now you can hardly afford to go to the movies by yourself, let alone take your girl, and get something to eat afterwards, so what's a guy to do? Well there are a few very inexpensive yet romantic and fun things you can do.

Walks in the park are always a great way to do something nice for your date, and don't cost you anything. Nice parks are all over the place, and are great places to go and just enjoy the day. When I say go to the park, I don't necessarily mean a children's park with a playground and such, but rather a place with a nice scenic view, a lake maybe, some shade, and so on. Your date will love the romantic atmosphere, and you'll enjoy the relaxation away form the hassles in your life and the extra cash in your pocket.

Hanging out downtown is another very easy thing to do with a date, as long as you can avoid shopping. Most downtown areas or old historical districts as they are sometimes known are full of interesting and inexpensive adventures. You may find an old ice cream parlor where you can get a sweet treat for a few bucks, a variety of stores your date may enjoy browsing in, and even some performers on the street for a bit of free entertainment, although giving a dollar or two would not hurt you. Downtown is just a place where you can spend hours looking at different things and spend time talking and laughing, and yet save some cash along the way.

A day by the lake or at the beach can be a great date. You have the sun, cool water, and nothing more to bring then just yourself, a date, and some sunscreen. Most women love the beach or a day by the lake, so this is yet another great date idea. All you really need to bring in the way of supplies is drinks, and maybe lunch depending on how long you intend to stay.

Stay in and just hang out, this is one of if not the cheapest form of entertainment that you and a date can enjoy. Rent a movie or two, fix some quick dinner, nothing fancy, just something easy, and relax on the couch and watch some TV. You both can go to the video store and check out a few movies, something you both want to see and then head home and chill out.

Those are just a few good ideas that I have experimented with over the years. Living as a student and still trying to have a good time with your date, and yet have money left over to afford your light bill can be a problem. So finding inexpensive yet romantic date ideas are a great way for you to maintain a healthy relationship, and still be able to eat.
