The first student summer job that is very common is to work at Fairhaven in the kitchen. Fairhaven is a nursing home that serves large meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Training is provided. You may wash dishes, prepare food, serve food, and clean up. During summer months there are part-time jobs available. The hours for students varies. A student that likes to cook, clean, and work with food would best fit this job.

Another student summer job that is common is working in the Activities Department at Fairhaven. No training is needed. You will mainly work evenings from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and rotating weekends. The hours are anywhere from twelve hours per week to twenty hours.

You must be at least 18 years old to work in the Activities Department. This job would best suit a high school senior (due to age requirement), creative, and an outgoing person who loves the elderly.

In the evenings, for thirty minutes you hand out music sheets, put in a DVD that plays on the large television screen, and sing with the elderly. For one and a half hours you have an activity planned for about twenty of the residents. (At times there could be more or less residents.)

An example of an activity is bowling. A light-weight ball is used and bowling pins. Each resident takes turns bowling. A lot of the residents are in wheel chairs so you bring the resident up to the designated area and let the resident bowl. The residents love bowling!

A Touch of Sun is a very busy tanning salon that is located in Whitewater that a lot of students work at. Your job would be to assign a tanning bed to the customer. Fill-out tanning cards that are purchased and handle cash. Clean off tanning beds after customer use.

A Touch of Sun tanning salon has a Laundromat and coffee shop attached. You would run both of them, too. The Laundromat job is basically keeping it clean. Wipe down the wash machines and dryers, sweep the floor, and wash the ceramic tile floor.

The coffee shop part of this student summer job would be making a variety of fancy coffees that are ordered by the customers.
