But there are also those who would like to earn their own keep, and help out in the family finances. Being the latter should be a wiser choice in these days where we have to be ready for any eventuality that the future may bring, especially with the unemployment rate peaking, and the financial crisis in full swing.
Therefore the students should start to pitch in and work part-time to have some spending money for themselves, and no longer bother mom and dad and burden them with unnecessary additional expenses.
Here are some ideas for part time jobs:
1. Typing
Offer your services to type whatever your classmates need, whether it be reports or thesis or similar stuff. You can even offer to be their personal secretary and take dictation from them if you are that fast a typer.
2. Tutor
If you are good at a certain subject, and have the patience it takes to be a tutor, then make use of this God given talent and give other students a hand in subjects that they may find difficult.
3. Auto detailing
If you are a car aficionado, and like to tinker with cars, then maybe auto detailing is for you. Think of some unique designs that your customers can choose from and use to make their cars look cool.
4. DJ
If you a have flair for entertaining, love music, and have a decent music collection, maybe a full 120GB Ipod then maybe you could offer your services at parties or events of your friends as a DJ, and earn at the same time.
5. Handyman Service
If you are good at basic home repair, plumbing, and similar stuff you can offer your services at something people sometimes refuse to do themselves because they are too lazy, or it's just not their cup of tea.
6. Garden Service
You and a friend could offer this service and earn a bit from it. Having a background in landscaping would be plus, as you could offer more for your prospective customers.
7. Newspaper, Aluminum Can Recycling
Collect old newspapers and aluminum cans. You can go from house to house and bring whatever you collect to the recycling plants. In addition, you help the environment and get paid for it too!
8. Photographer
If you enjoy taking pictures, have a flair for photography, and think you can take great pictures, offer your services at your friend's special events like birthdays, wedding anniversaries, and the like. You can charge competitively and help your friends keep their memories through the pictures you take.
9. Freelance Writer
If you enjoy writing, there are many jobs available for writers on the internet. Just do a little internet searching, it should be easy to find a topic that is interesting to write about. It would be a nice part time business through which you could earn a little extra.
10. Senior Citizens Care
This is a way to give back and give respect to the older generation and at the same time earn from it. If you have the patience and some know how at care giving then maybe this part-time job is for you. It will involve some basic house hold chores and of course helping the seniors with their needs.
There are many other part time jobs and businesses out there just waiting to be done, or waiting to be started. All is takes is the will to do it in the first place. You should have the drive to earn on your own even while you are students.
