Why, when, where, and how did this start and become so publicly famous (because that is what it looks like). Could it be that some teachers today look young enough to some students that the attraction is bearable? Or is it that today's teachers lack the respect that teachers back then demanded and earned?
Who knows, it seems some of us understand all this, others refuse to understand all this, the rest don't care about understanding this scandal, however, parents want to know the answer to how this happens. Parents want to know because they have that right to feel and be concern of their children. This type of crime needs a better way of being handled. It seems there is still not a sufficient punishment to make up for this child abuse behavior, because that's what it is, child abuse. No matter what age, no matter the maturity, they are still too young and easily manipulated.
See, we all know that children/young adults go to school to be educated and meet other children/young adults their age to socialize and have fun while they are learning. Teachers go to school (as part of their jobs/duties) to teach the fundamentals of the many academic subjects that exist, to prepare students for a brighter future. So again, why and how did this come into place? What went wrong to the point of reaching this level of disrespect from both the student and the teacher? How dare any of these so call professional people (for whom kids count on for moral support sometimes, as well) take their behavior to such level?
As adults we are aware that a student will act their age and will always have that potential of being naïve and doing things they shouldn't. That is how they learn and grow and become mature. Now a teacher is a whole other thing. Being a teacher is accepting that one of your biggest responsibility is to teach your students things that will not only keep them safe, but that will prepare them to become the best individual they can become in the near future. A teacher is not supposed to teach kids about sexual encounters on a physical level.
Some say things just happen and an attraction just happens. Some are being targeted of wanting their 15 minutes of fame. Some are just mentally and physically out of character. If so, at the time of being hired as a teacher, what were their actions or behaviors that allowed them to be in contact with these children? Obviously, mentally these teachers (that have been involved with students on a sexual level) are not that much out of character, because the school comities viewed them as the best candidate for the job, right. So they must of show some type of normalcy. They were smart enough to get the job and hide their capabilities of harming these children, but along the line, their capabilities led to these consequences. So who should we blame?
The adults who perform such abusive behavior should be the only person to blame. Their mentality is much stronger than any student (minor). An adult is aware of what he or she does. They know that the consequences are there and must pay for a crime they initiate and commit. A child thinks a lot of things that go on in their lives are never that serious. They live an adventuress life. They have that right. They are young and vulnerable.
As the concern of parents grow because of this type of scandal, how can parents today feel safe in sending their children to school without thinking about situations like this? Basically they can't. As parents the only option is to educate their children on situations like this. Your child must understand the importance if ever an encounter like this occurs, what to do, who to tell, but tell someone. Never be ashamed to speak about it and tell someone. The key is to tell someone. Any individual that interacts with a minor on a sexual level (whether it be a teacher or not) must be prosecuted and sentence to the maximum sentencing possibly, including not exposing this individual with such fame but with more shame from the media as possible.
Going back to about a decade ago, teachers were looked at (through students eyes) like hero's. An inspiration of looking up to this person who in any students eyes (back then) was a master and a hero of helping students achieve educational goals. Some students even felt teachers and school was a breath of fresh air when they arrived at school and interacted with their teachers and other students because back home, they didn't live such a healthy life. Now, 10 years later, and most recently, that has changed. There have been several situations of teachers and students becoming very close personally. Students are becoming involved with their teachers on a sexual level more consistently.
