Studio O: Review of an Art Studio and Gallery, Oklahoma City
Nancy prefers acrylic paintings and has abstracts, impressionist, representational, Native American, transfers and Sumi-e Oriental art. Her gallery is full to a point of over-flowing. Currently, only private showings are available but she does show at 50 Penn Place Art Gallery from time to time.
In addition to her canvas artwork for sale, Nancy offers art classes for all levels where students go at their own speed. This includes ages 4 through adult. These art classes are group or individual. She is flexible and nurturing so any beginner, whether adult or child, will learn to love painting and art.
Her location is convenient since it is close to Mayfair Shopping Center. Parking is limited but she schedules classes so they aren't large anyway. Her art room is well lighted with huge windows for natural light. There are long tables and easels for artwork. She offers an occasional newsletter so patrons can keep up with her showings and classes.
One of her classes plans to work outside and "throw paint." Nancy believes art should be enjoyable, entertaining and she loves the opportunity to express emotion. She is presently working on a series of canvas artwork depicting women. My favorite is a swirl of a skirt and blouse that captures movement and color.
My nephew told me he was in a back room during one of her classes. He said he couldn't believe all the laughing that was going on. I told him not every artistic endeavor is serious and quiet. I believe this was one of her women's art classes so I'm sure there was a jovial mood as the ladies seem to have bonded.
Among Nancy's accomplishments as an artist, she has written and illustrated books. She plans to start writing children's books soon because she looks forward to illustrating them. She is a protégé of Bert Seabourn, a leading artist in Oklahoma. Nancy doesn't know I'm writing this review but how can I skip writing about one of the most diversified artists I know?
