The countries are mainly in Western Europe and the various cities include; Athens, Paris, Florence, Prague, Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Vienna and Budapest.

While learning of Western Europe's rich history, you'll have the chance to study a variety of subjects more intensely. For example, the European Union, Art, Business or Intercultural are each different course paths to choose. Depending on your college major, you will find that one of these paths might fit best. Political science majors should choose either the European Union or Intercultural. Business majors should choose business, and design or language majors should choose Art.

Those who choose to study the European Union track while spending a semester in Europe will learn the deep history of how the European Union came about. Coursework includes international relations, history, art history, sociology and geography. The program will allow students to gain 15 credits towards your degree through fully-accredited coursework. The European Union coursework allows students to understand the background and reasoning behind why the EU is what it is today. Some of the best faculty is recruited to teach these courses including former Ambassadors and Geographic Society members. The courses include Modern Europe, European Geography, History of Art, European Cultures, and Intro to the European Union.

The other European study options also include 15 credit hours for students which will likely transfer to their degree. The curriculum also has a variety of options to take along with the required course program. Optional courses include Greek Language and Culture and others.

The typical course schedule for the program is that classes meet for about 5 hours per week. Over the period of 8 weeks, students have approximately 42 hours of classroom contact. Students will also spend 35 days of on-the-ground travel to some key political, economic, historical and cultural institutions that make up the EU.

Studying the European Union ineptly will give students a more constructive European history background and many other transferable skills. Students will gain political understanding and historical knowledge.

Students are encouraged to join the program because of the knowledge gained of Europe and the European Union. They will also get the chance to see close to 30 influential European cities. This program also offers students a chance to stretch their worldview and understanding.

Admission requirements to be eligible for a Global Learning semester includes interest in the program topic, exceptional overall academic performance, a proven rationale for participating in the program, quality of academic recommendation and demonstrated maturity.

Students who have demonstrated intellectual curiosity, energy and passion for learning will be the most likely selected candidates.

Also, students typically need to have maintained a GPA of at least 2.5. It is also necessary for students to be at least at sophomore standing upon beginning the program. Occasionally, exceptions will be made for students who have completed at least one semester of college. However, it is typically important to have at least two semesters of college under your belt.
