Study Outside of Class
It's important you don't only work during the online criminal justice class. Instead, you should constantly be reviewing the material so that you are prepared for the next session. This way, you'll learn the material far more quickly and efficiently.
Take Notes on the Side
Listening and participating are good ways to learn, but nothing is more active than taking notes. Even if your teacher ends up sending you material, re-writing the most pertinent facts makes a great study tool.
Ask Questions
Especially in criminal justice, there will be a lot of questions that you may need answers to. Get your teacher's cell phone number or e-mail and ask her for help on the material you don't understand.
Work with Others
One of the best ways to learn material is through collaboration. Get some other students and yourself on instant messenger to discuss things that you don't understand or need to review.
Turn off Distractions
If you want to get the most out of your online criminal justice class, stay focused on what you're learning. This means turn off that music in the background and don't be on addictedgames.com in the background. Generally, sessions aren't too long so make sure you stay focused for the whole time.
Involve Yourself
In the session, answer questions that your instructor may ask. The more active and participatory you are in your online criminal justice class, the more you will learn from the experience.
Read Everything
If your teacher sends you material to download, make sure you print them all out and read them all. The teacher doesn't send you useless stuff; everything they send has a purpose so make sure you read, and at least skim, all of the material.
Organize Your Material
When you have material downloaded from your online criminal justice session, make sure that you organize it. Don't have it spread out around your computer because you won't find the stuff again. Rather, make a folder and title your assignments accordingly so you can always find them in a few moments.
Create Flashcards
Having trouble memorizing definitions or specific law cases that you have to reference? Put their names on the front of the notecards and what they mean on the back and spend just a few minutes a day studying these terms to become surprisingly more proficient.
Review Multiple Times
If you want to get the same out of your online criminal justice class as an actual class, this means you'll have to put in a little more work. So, review at night before you go to bed, and then review just a bit more before you have your session so that you are prepared for the upcoming material.
