Studying Abroad in Sydney, Australia is an Excellent Opportunity for Undergraduates and Postgraduates!
Students will have the opportunity to spend 6-7 weeks from early January through the middle of February studying in Sydney. The programs available include Architecture, Arts, Economics, business, Education, Engineering, Health Sciences, Law, medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Science. With the wide variety of programs available, many students will be able to participate in the program with their friends!
Pre-requisites for the winter program in Sydney include submitting transcripts to the University of Sydney. There is generally flexibility for students with a GPA above 3.0. Visa requirements for the program include applying for a tourist visa. The electronic application for getting a tourist visa is a fairly simple process to complete once the international plane ticket to Australia has been purchased.
Housing in Sydney is provided by Study Australia apartments near the University of Sydney.
The cost of the winter program at the University of Sydney is $500 plus tuition. The tuition cost varies based on the number of courses students choose to take. The general fee for the entire program is approximately $3000 for one course, housing and orientation.
There are plenty of available courses during the winter term. The application deadline for the winter program is the middle of November, so students should consider the options early in their fall semester.

The University of Sydney also has several summer programs for students wishing to study abroad during their summer.
The Wildlife and Conservation program is one summer program at the University of Sydney which is specifically designed for students in an environmental area of study.
Classes of the Wildlife and Conservation program are taught by Australian environmentalists. The summer program generally includes 1-3 electives which typically transfer, for a total of 6-8 United States college credits.
The program at the University of Sydney allows students to explore rain forests, coastlines and coral reefs, as well as arid interior landscapes. Australia also offers a diverse range of physical and cultural landscapes and ecosystems.
The University of New South Wales specializes in presenting an introduction to 'Australian Wildlife and Conservation.'
The program offers an introductory level science course. Students are not required to have experienced a great amount of biological science. Students have the opportunity to choose from three electives including; Washminster and Washington: A Comparative Study of Australian and US Politics, Australian Environmental History, or Australian sport: History and Culture.
Students who choose to take advantage of the environmental summer program at the University of Sydney will also have the opportunity to travel around Australia. Included is a three day camping expedition to the World Heritage in Kakadu National Park. Students will get to experience the beautiful significance of Australia's natural heritage to its indigenous people.
Students will also spend two weeks at the University of New South Wales, approximately 20 miles from downtown Sydney. Students will learn conservation theories, including landscaped-based and natural and cultural values on conservation of biodiversity.
There will also be opportunities for summer students to see and study Australia's unique flora and fauna, including marsupials such as the kangaroo and koala.
Spending a summer term or winter term at the University of Sydney is a wonderful opportunity for biology students to gain valuable career exposure and experience the adventure of a lifetime!
