Stuff Your Christmas Stockings for Only a Buck

Tips and Ideas for the Savvy Shopper!

Julie Boehlke
With the Holiday season fast approaching, many people are working diligently toward wrapping up their Christmas shopping while maintaining a reasonable budget. The one thing that many shoppers do in fact put off initially and save until the last minute is shopping for their stocking stuffers, when in fact this is one of the most important tasks in the entire Holiday Shopping experience.

The Dollar Tree store offers an abundance of small stocking stuffer items that you can purchase for under a dollar to complete an entire stocking for the special people on your holiday list. Typically there is a store nearby in your own hometown.

I've put together a few stocking stuffer ideas to give you an idea of what you can create with a limited budget.

Stocking Stuffer idea for Mom or Grandma- Most moms love to bake. The Dollar Tree store offers a vast variety of innovative kitchen utensils that mom will surely love. Spices and baking mixes can also be found at the Dollar Tree, these are perfect items to stick into mom's or grandma's stocking for Christmas morning. Chocolate and a variety of hard candies can also be good items to include in the stocking. If mom and grandma love to be pampered and lets face it what woman doesn't, try adding some scented lotions, powders and even some candles. Gather similar items with pretty Christmas ribbons and then proceed to stuff the cluster into the stocking. This will serve as a gentle reminder to mom and grandma to take time out for themselves after the hectic holiday season.

Stocking Stuffer idea for Dad or Grandpa- Don't for get the all important men on your list. The Dollar store has a vast selection of different kinds of tools and home improvement aids. A wrench and screwdriver set can be purchased for only a dollar and added to their stockings. How about a nice mug and carton of Cocoa Mix? Add a jar of mixed nuts and maybe some hard candies to round out the stocking theme for the men in your life.

Stocking Stuffer idea for Teens- Teens are hard to please, they can also have expensive taste, mine surely do. You can find a lot of stationary supplies at the dollar store. Teens love cute little stickers, markers and colorful paper. Photo frames are also a good choice. What teen doesn't have pictures of their friends adorning their bedroom walls? The Dollar Tree also offers a variety of designer look sunglasses that every teen will love to wear. Makeup and hair accessories are abundant at the store. Be sure to stick a few of those in also. A girl can never have too many make up and hair products. This goes for the teen boys too, you can find combs and hair gels usually at most stores. Disposable cameras can also be bought at the Dollar Tree store, these are perfect gifts for teens who love to take pictures of everything, this way you don't have to stress out anymore when they take off with your $300 digital camera. Of course one last suggestion for teens is be sure to include some yummy candy and snacks.

Stocking Stuffer idea for Pets- Lassie surely can not be forgotten at Christmas time. Be sure to grab some dollar items for your pet such as treats, canned food, toys and even pet outfits such as bandannas and Christmas sweaters. The dollar store in Adrian, Michigan has a large variety of cute Holiday themed clothes for Toy dogs. I bought three bandannas for my pugs to wear this Christmas season.

A couple of other items to pick up before you leave the store is some stockings to hang by the chimney with care and of course a couple of boxes of candy canes. Christmas stockings are incomplete without those candy canes!

There are so many different options for unique stocking ideas that can be bought and put together right from your own neighborhood Dollar Tree store.

Tis the season for saving and making everyone happy, including your best friend Fido!
